HV20 Wildlife

great stuff kyle! Gorillas looked particularly cool, good shooting, and they're just amazing animals ;p

Kyle
Your video was very nicely done. I too like the grading that you did. and the Gorilla looked as if he was in deep thought "Tax Time?". I can't beleive the video that this little camera puts out . It's videos like yours that turned me, hence I just sold my Panny DVC30 and wanted to get a Canon A1 but with my son going to college, the HV20 had the next best video. Therefore I will be getting a HV30 when they come out in March. Keep up the good work.

Also I go to all video boards to gather as much knowledge as possible. But this is a big boys site, mainly for DVX100 & HVX200. If you want more of a HV20 community go to HV20.com you will be amazed, and get a lot more feedback.

Thanks Bobby. I am a member here because I use the HVX and DVX from time to time (I'm a big boy, too). My video is cross-posted on HV20.com and is getting a lot of good feedback. I posted here because this is my primary message board.

I think the HV20 is highly comparable to the dvx, what is lost in manual control is made up for in picture quality. In some situations, I like the picture better than the HVX's.

I just bought a IMAC 2.8 today and wanted to get FCE 4, could you tell me your work flow for shooting 24p with the HV20 start to finsh, or point me to the location on the board.

I searched and found command line ways for FCpro, do you use that or do you have your own way. While searching I found that someone said FCE4 cannot handle 24p on the time line. Whats up

FCE can't remove the pulldown for true 24p. In "easy setup," my settings are HDV Apple intermediate codec 1080, 60i. It captures fine, just 24p + pulldown. I use this setup and then capture and treat the footage like any other.

Kyle,
Then how do you output the video to put on vemio straight 60i ? interlaced or deinterlaced. Iam asking because I like the way your footage looked and would like to replicate. your work flow

Thanks

Yes, I output 29.97, but deinterlace first in FCE. I've recently had a lot of success with the reverse telecine in JES Deinterlacer, which removes pulldown and deinterlaces it. The results look better than the above to my eyes. What I have been doing recently is import/export footage to and from FCE 29.97, then injest the FCE movie file (Quicktime) and put it through JES to do the reverse pulldown.

Great, I got it, I just downloaded the JES Deinterlacer. Could you please let us know if you put something up on vemio using the JES method. I would like to do a A and B.

Thanks for your input Kyle !
