You're asking an impossible-to-answer question. The short answer is: it is amazing for its price.

The long answer is: of course it doesn't hold up compared to the others, when you factor in the rolling shutter, the low light sensitivity, the grain in any lower-light situation, the wobble, etc.

But come on, it's $900. It's way better than it has any right to be.

putting into play that it a consumer camera and the others are classified as prosumer and taking into account what you said as far as amout of lighting for the HV20 compared to others with suffcient lighting taken into account does the image quality just the image im talking about what evetualy is played on you TV screen/ computer screen compare to the other cameras mentioned Barry ????????? Others ?????????????

If you know what you're doing, and you know the limitations and how to work around them, and you can bring the light levels into play, you can get absolutely fantastic results from all of these tools.

The question is how do they perform in those less-than-ideal conditions; that's where the differences kick in.

But if you have superb skills you could make superb footage with an HV20.
