HUNTER'S EARTH - A Cowboy Scene Film

Very very nice. I felt like i was watching high school musical haha. The score for the film was perfect. I couldnt think of anything better then what you put in there. The makeup was spot on. The story was well told and it was one of the few films that i felt positive about there being no talking. A bit corny but well worth the 6 min to watch it. Very well done.

This is not what I expected it to be at all. But that's in a good way. This was entertaining. Well choreographed and edited. I thought the look of the film could have been a little better, perhaps different color grading would do the trick.

Overall it's another solid film told entirely visually with music. Seems to be quite a few of those this fest and I like it.

EDIT: I'd like to revise my statement. Forgot to say I also thought the music was excellent as well.

I'm on the WTF train too, only I'm staying on it. I laughed MAO... So silly and light hearted. My sister just came and stayed with me and her kids dance like that. If my nieces would make a movie it would look like this, and nobody has more imagination than a kid. Funny as hell, I really like laughing so I had a ball watching this.

Technically seemed really good too. I didn't really pay attention to technical stuff but the lighting looked even throughout and the ship in the sky was well done. The score was great.

I'm still chuckling, good one!

I didn't expect this, I was really surprised. "WTF" surprised :)
My actor (gunman) gave it a 10, he really really liked it, he said he would like to see you do a full feature like this :)

actually a full feature would be cool...
I have to say, I loved the lighting and the camera work and angles between the 2 aliens,
it was great! I felt like I was watching Flash Gordon all over again and it's been quite a few years since that one!
Great piece, congrats!

hey everyone just checking in. just wanted to apologize again to thewho for getting back to him so late and making the last few weeks more of an adventure for him than they needed to be. fortunately we were able to get the effects done in time and he was able to get the film in, although I'm sure he must have still suffered a bit. props also to justin for helping out and doing a few of the shots- he's a pro and I remember really liking his work on mahlen.

also just wanted to say it was really hard to keep the fact that it was going to be told solely through dance a secret! well not really but for a while when people were commenting on what appeared to be a passing similarity to a certain big budget oscar nominee I couldn't help but laugh because I knew how different they are. anyway I think it was great that he was able to surprise everyone with it, although I think either rodney or zaza almost guessed it based on a screengrab.

anyway I enjoyed working on it and props all around to all of the other contributors as well.

Yeah it was me. I knew it! And Jason told me it was the actors goofing off. Try to pull the wool over my eyes he did. I have words for that young man!

It actually was the actors goofing off! But, they were in the dancing mood, admittedly. And when you cast four music theatre actors in your film, what do you expect.

My reply to your guess was fairly cryptic because you were SO close. Almost a musical, but not quite.

I raise my eyebrow at you sir. Just for that stunt, I'm going to write your review... in the morning after I finally hit the hay.

^^ that's me being evil^^ in case you didn;t know

wow very interesting. at first I was like WTF is this ! But then the artistry truly began to shine and it ended up being a very stylistically engaging piece that made me want to see more and more.

Story: One of the most unique entries by far, that's for sure. :)

Acting: I think your performers nailed what you were going for.

Technical: Very solid. I wish some of the arrow shots came off as more powerful, they seemed a bit weak. The arrow disappearing from the body in the end threw me a little. The attention to props, costumes and makeup was great. That must have been a daunting task.

In the end this wasn't my cup of tea. As you know I love your stuff but this one caught me off guard. Happily it looks like I'm fairly alone on this one.
I do plan on watching it again after is settles though.

This one caught me off-guard as well. It's not the kind of thing I'd usually watch but I ended up really enjoying it. Certainly one of the more creative entries I've seen so far. I like the attention to detail and the choreography. Very original. Nice work.

I think Michael nailed exactly what I could have said. Not my cup of tea, and much more of an interprative/artistic type film. The choreography was cool, however, and enjoyed the music as well.

I had to watch this one twice as well. I did enjoy it the second-go around, although I'm not sure I get the whole thing.

When I saw the opposing worlds, I'm like "wow, this is going to be a total freak-out!" And it was.

The cinematography is very good, the film has a polished look to it so there's not much more to say there.

I like the absence of dialog. The SFX (especially the bow shooting the arrow sound). The shaking of the tree was just a little too fake when juxtaposed against the shot of the animal.

Like I said, I'm not sure I am interpreting the whole movie entirely correctly, but this a more artistic film, so I don't feel too bad about that. I loved the chick's gun. Bonus points for costumes, makeup and props. Choreography also was good and it was fun to watch them in-sync; that part gave me a happy feeling inside.

I'm glad I got to see this one! Thanks!

John

This was really, really creative. Wow. Like some of the others, I was unsure what to think at first, but I was really drawn to this world you created. What a tough task, create a new world, new characters, tell a story, do it without dialogue, and have dancing, makeup, props, all of it. Great work.

The outdoor forest stuff had a very nice feel to it, nice warm tones. Right from the very beginning the film clicked – with the music, titles and the opening shot, the stamping on the ground. Great sound work.

Loved the score. Really creative, interesting stuff, went very well with the film. Loved how the ideas tied together, that string motif coming back in the end. The dance music especially was very creative. Great work on that, really impressive.
Great acting, along with the camerawork, the music, the whole design of the thing – the actors did a great job of selling the whole thing.

Memorable Moment

The dance sequence starting with that great opening eyes shot. Haven’t really seen anything like this in a short film before, I was really interested.

Fun stuff, this was really creative, fun, interesting, well shot.

At first I thought this was going to be a bit hokey but the two out in the woods with the bow and arrow. And then there was a small dance nonverbal sequence between the boy and the girl, made me curious.

Then there was the individual in a spaceship with the dance moves which reminded me of that wicked gal in the Power Rangers back in the day.

And then when you put the two women together and they were dancing up but this was freaking creative inventive, and one of the few films I can honestly say
that I did not mind that there wasn't a single word spoken, which means a lot
considering I'm a screenwriter.

The betrayal was spot on. Good job!

Thanks for all your comments guys! I really appreciate the feedback, regardless of whether or not it worked for you.

Obviously this was a pretty big stretch for me, and I was trying to do something pretty unusual, so I'm glad that it doesn't seem like a total failure.

I'll reply to some comments more specifically later, but I just wanted to make sure you guys know that I appreciate all the feedback, and keep it coming.

Now back to watching/commenting on more films...
