Hunted - action sequence

Hi all!

We just completed this small action sequence we shot. Somewhat inspired (sfx wise anyway) by the starcraft games. Quite a lot of sky replacements and assorted little cgi things had to be learned to finish this one. Shot with the Canon 7d and the kit lens. I realised that the kit lens is not that bad. I may just buy the FS100 and use it's kit lens for a lot of things because I was satisfied with how the 7d kit lens worked outside.

For me the sequence was a bit slow for an 'action' sequence. I would have cut the dialog at the beginning considerably, and tightened up scenes were there was no interactions between Überdroid and the Untermenschen.
The final scene seemed to me to be a bit schmaltzy as well...

I'd recommend looking at "Battle Los Angeles"(2011), for a idea of 'battle scene' camera work.

I personally liked it. The music was a perfect fit and you did a great job with the camera work/angles. I think some of the "bad guy" laser sfx may have been too sharp looking (no DOF to it) and the overall color correction was a little too yellow for my taste. Overall...congrats! Nice location too!

I think it's great. Good job. I'm sure you know what a tough crowd the dvxuser group is. There will always be more people on here to find something wrong with your projects. :-)

That's why I like to post here, professionals give out pointers that help us too
