Huge price differences on HMC150?

I'm sorry - I did not preface my post by saying I didn't know about the situation. After trying to purchase a Sony FX1000 from these scammers for around $1200 and having them say YOU NEED A LENS ($1000) TO MAKE THIS CAMERA WORK - I knew it was a scam... You are lured in a low low prices, and they try to get you to buy the other 'accessories' that come in THE BOX.

Look man I think my posts are useful. Especially to one like yourself. You openly admitted that you attempted to buy one of these cams and weren't successful. I have been successful so maybe instead of hating you should listen. I fully understand that these are shady people and so should you and everyone else for that matter. However, that doesn't subtract from the fact that shady or not I got a great deal on a great cam. There is a way to outwit these people. It isn't scamming when people are suckers to their shifty sales pitch. If you go in informed you come out a happy customer.

As for those that suggest they need their gear to make money. Well heck so do I. Either way when your stuff breaks it needs to be sent out on warranty. Most don't live around the corner from a repair facility. I have owned 5 DVX100's both A and B along with 2 HVX200's. I have never had a problem. These things are diehard, especially when taken care of. These cams have no heads or moving parts dealing with tapes. There is so much less to break. I'll take my chances. I just know I'd rather buy some primes for my adapter than blow a grand on a warranty I HOPEFULLY won't be using.

Somehow I don't advise this approach to purchasing equipment to use in your business. It's isn't worth the few hundred dollars saved.

How does this become useful advice?

To each his own... he may be having good luck with this approach, but by all accounts he's about the only person having good luck. The logic of trying to outwit scammers in order to save on business equipment that your livelihood depends on isn't a particularly wise approach.

I hope everyone else reading that statement recognizes that it's not. Trying to cut corners in such a way will eventually leave you burned. :violent5:

Haha yeah I said something. That's the best you got?

I agree to each is own. I just am sick of people arguing when they haven't put any time into figuring out what they are arguing about. It's about a thousand dollars not a few hundred. Multiply that by 5 or 6 cams. You just got 2 free cams. It's worth the slight abuse you go through dealing with shifty fools on the phone. Especially when you are a business and buy them in larger amounts. Anyway I am done beating a dead horse. Go ahead and pay more for your warranty just don't preach what you don't know.

gary... you say you bought from them and had an ok experience... fine.... you made your case. now leave it be.

You are obviously an exception (or, as you put it, awesome at dealing with shady businessmen). Great.

That doesn't negate the 99.5% of other people out there who have had the opposite experience. Quite the contrary. It makes YOU the minority. You stated your case, others will state theirs as well.

Now, chill... and read our forum guidelines while you are at it.

Thanks.

later.

I am quite familiar with guidelines. I believe I am within guidelines. I have said my peace I will say it again. Just was trying to be a devil's advocate to this never ending discussion. Also offering some help to those that aren't loaded with money.

I have said my peace

Indeed you have... to the point of beating a dead horse...

I will say it again

No... you won't.

But, I will have a final word on this...

Everyone should do their research. It's not just about buying grey market... There are plenty of LEGIT places to buy grey market if that's what you choose.

However, there is one guy saying one thing and most everyone else who has ever had any dealings with these people saying an entirely different thing.

You all can make up your own mind... Just ask yourself how much peace of mind you require when spending thousands of dollars of your (or someone elses) hard earned money.

Later,
Jason
