HPX250 vs HPX300

Hey Philip,

I'd be really interested to see how the HPX250 handles low light. Also, curious if the image is the same, better or worse than the HPX370. Seeing some 720 60p footage would also be great. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the camera. Oh, also, the focus ring is NOT mechanical, correct? It spins infinitely like the HPX170 focus, right?

Thanks!

Hpx250 demo in our hands for two days starting tuesday sept 20. Get your requests in for footage you want to see. 1080 avc intra100 24p, edit in fcp, up load to vimeo 25,000 kb/sec. High contrast, tight fabric patterns, lowlight... I am wondering how the image will differ from the 370. Is the strength of this camera simply in the price and form factor? People still want to see the footage though...
Do you think you could do a test with a flash to get an idea of how the flash banding compensation works?
Thanks!

Philip, if you could compare it to the Canon XF300 & EX-1 for low light and color accuracy I would be interested in seeing the results.

Thanks

philip--

i'd be interested in the quality of the lens.

maybe put on scope and measure the dynamic range of the camera and perhaps arrive at a valuation for its iso?

i would also look at the lens quality zoomed all the way in and then out. soft in the corners? full tele any breathing?

i would also hope someone could assess whether critical focus can be obtained relying upon the lcd and not an external monitor.

thanks in advance for any info you could provide.

have a good shoot!

be well

That's not a worry. 3x zoom-in focus assist, plus a sharp VF and LCD, plus the ability to set the EVF DTL's frequency and intensity -- you can get pinpoint precision focus on an HPX250 without needing an external monitor...

Hi Philip.
It would be interesting to shoot some black fabrics (satin, cotton, velvet, synthetics) under tungsten light, just to check if HPX250 has the same good InfraRed rejection as the HPX3xx shouder series.

Can you share some thoughts about camcorder handling, button and switches placement and accessibility and... New tiny ND filter wheel?
Thank you in advance!

By the way, there are neither LCD nor EVF DTL dedicated buttons on the HPX250, while they're placed on both AC160 and AC130 models.
Being that the HPX250 has a total amount of 5 user assignable buttons, I was hoping that EVF DTL setting could be one of the 18 assignable functions available, but the brochure does not show such a function (only LCD BL is present, among others)...

I'm pretty sure there are. It's been a while since I saw the prototype but I'm sure those buttons are inside the LCD panel.

Hmmm, top page 9 of the brochure shows a left-side view of the HPX250, opened panel with none of those dedicated buttons inside.
Who knows?
Perhaps production units could slightly differ from adv pictures?
