How to use manual primes on 550D?

I'm thinking of getting a 550D; I've used old manual primes on my GH1 and look forward to doing the same with the Canon. On the Panasonic I do this with a menu setting called "shoot without lens". What do you do for the 550D when you use an unchipped mechanical adapter? What menu item do you have to set? I have been looking through the PDF user manual but couldn't see anything about it.

I'm pretty sure you don't have to set anything. You'll get a "no lens" warning and after a button press the camera goes right into shooting mode.
