How to edit files, someone pulled into a mac?

I have a job offer to edit some footage shot on an HVX200.
They client wants to hand me a hard drive.

What should I expect to run into if I am on a PC.

I have Premiere Pro CS4, an early version of Edius broadcast that is not loaded, but could load if needed, and also a Aspect HD version 5.

Not sure how the files were put onto the hard drive, but lets assume the worst....

The worse...they are imported QUICKTIME files. That means that you cannot see them at all. The codec used to capture them only come with FCP.

The best...they provided you with the original MXF files in the original P2 card structure.

Get the original card dumps...

Yup- that's a walk away if they don't have copies of the original P2 files. Save the gig for someone with a Mac because you'll spend days just getting the footage converted into something you can use.

It would be prudent to clarify this to eliminate the worst case scenario

The files may be just a p2 volume copy with all the folders intact.

You need to learn what is there.
