How long did it take to get your GH2? Or, how long have you been waiting?

I ordered a GH2 from Panasonic Direct (EPP) over 3 weeks ago. It was listed as "backordered" so I knew from the outset that I would be waiting.

Panasonic customer service has no idea when it will be coming, but I thought that those who have ordered one from Panasonic and received theirs would have a better idea of how long of a wait there may be.

If you've ordered a GH2 from Panasonic Direct while it was listed as backordered, how long did it take to receive it?

Also, if you've ordered one but have yet to receive it, how long have you been waiting?

It took about 3 weeks when I ordered it when it was In Stock. Yeah.

Your best bet is monitoring an In-Stock website like nowinstock and watching 43rds rumors and signing up to mailing lists at B&H, etc. It seems to go in stock at one of them for a couple hours once a week or so.

I orderered my 1st gh2 dec 3rd and it arrive dec 20. The I order second gh2 dec20 and still not arrive yet. Also order gh1 feb 1st and few ago pansonic called and say no more gh1.

I ordered a black body though PD EPP a week before xmas and still have not received it.

Also, when I ordered, the status showed that it would ship in 7-14 days. That never happened.

I ordered a black body from PD and had waited over 3 weeks. I cancelled that order and replaced it with a silver body. It shipped out the next day.

Did the silver body say it was in stock or backordered when you ordered it?

After I picked up the GH1/14-42 bundle at PD, I can't trust their stock status because I received the lens before the camera (by a day) when the lens' status said "backordered" and the camera was in stock!

Yeah, I see the 43rumors stock notices every so often, but I ordered via Panasonic EPP, which comes with quite a discount from retail pricing, so I'm more inclined to wait for it than grab one ASAP at retail price.

Based only off the info that particular representative was able to give me: the silver body was in stock; the long backorder only seemed to be affecting the black body camera. The conjecture being that both colors were made in equal supply, but everyone rushed in on the black body. The representatives seem to have no way of anticipating this and only seem to realize that they have the silver bodies in stock if you ask specifically for them. This was a few weeks ago, and I have no idea what the current status may be.

I picked up a Black GH2 from Texas Media Systems back in December, and a Silver GH2 from the marketplace at FredMiranda.com.

Thanks for the business Stephen!

We have GH2 cameras in stock as of 2 hours ago. We have them with the 14 - 140mm lens ONLY. There are no bodies only, sorry. Price is $1495, free ground shipping. We have AF100 cameras body only available too.

At pd silver body also out of stack. They call me Tuesday and I ask about it and also call 3 weeks ago and still out of stack.

Ordered black gh2 body from panasonic direct on 6.17.2011. Shipped in about 3 weeks.

Note: Panasonic will NOT tell you when they ship something, nor can you look up your order with their website cause it totally stinks. If you want to know if it's shipped. Look at your credit cards statement online to see if the payment got posted. If it did, it's on the way :)

Not knowing who here shoots for fun or has a business, but many states have tax exemptions for purchases for certain types of businesses. In TN, photographers and videographers can qualify for an Industrial Machinery exemption and not pay sales tax for any equipment that directly goes into the production of work. Always good to explore local sales & use tax options.

I have to pay sales tax even when I buy online directly from Panasonic. Boo indeed.

Wish that worked here in Jamaica.
If I ordered something abroad and then shipped it here customs would add 40% duty along with 17.5% tax.
Ouch.
