How fast is the AF on Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f2.8 XR Di-II LD Asph. IF

I would really like to know more about this lens but I cant tell if it has the equivalent USM and IS as canon lens.

I have that lens (VC version) and the AF is fast for sure. As fast as any canon lens that I have.

I thought the AF was a lot slower than the Canon's I've tried. The VC works well though it might be noisier than the Canon. I thought the lens was not as sharp as the canon and returned it to buy a 17-55 Canon. It is pretty good though and cheaper by far.

If you want the equiv to IS on the Canon you need to get the VC version - that's Tamron's motion stabilization .
