C300: How do you edit Canon MXF footage?

My interest is narrative filmmaking, and I'm thinking about buying a Canon cinema camera. I was wondering how you edit MXF footage (e.g., proxies or natively, hardware, NLE, etc.). Thanks.

I usually prefer to edit on Final Cut Pro on my 8-core, 64GB RAM, 1TB Flash storage, 2x AMD FirePro D700 "nMacPro." I can edit native MXF or proxy, doesn't really matter unless I start to add lots of effects or something. On my laptop I often use Final Cu Pro X's proxy feature.

I directly cut in FCPX. It is the fastest. In a macbook pro if you are cutting the 4K footage then better to generate proxies and cut as it slows down slightly. Cutting 1080p footage is not a problem at all.

Edit MXF natively, in Premiere Pro on a purpose built Windows PC.

A lot of editors stay with Avid. I "believe" they transcode to DNxHR first.

Final Cut X 10..3.2
No problems with mk2 footage in this NLE . I use proxy mode for cutting 4k matrial and then switch to original material for final output.

1080 material doesn't need. The proxy foootage unless you have a giga amount of material and then it may help a bit.

I just wanted to finish this thread, and thank everyone who provided helpful responses. I had not been able to find much information about editing MXF footage. I was kind of surprised at the juvenile posts, but I suppose every online community has a few members with "personal problems".

Don't worry, they represent the minority. It's like they forgot they once were in a situation similar to yours.
