How do I get rid of grain?

I've been trying to shoot a room, great light, everything looks perfect - except, the dark areas are really grainy. I am using Premiere Pro CS3 and the DVX100.
Should I try to capture with another system?

Look into software to remove the grain, magic bullet has one that works well. Or add some nuance lighing to the backround to avoid the black areas, candles, led lights, reflectors to bounce ambient light into the area, just try to be creative as possible to get the look your after.

It's not the system. This is digital, so once it is on tape it's all 1s and 0s. Once it's there, it's there.

The DVX will see some grain in dark areas due to the small chips. That's just part of having a 1/3" CCD (even with three of 'em). Because of the sensor size, the camera loves light. The more, the merrier. The key is to get enough light so that gain is at 0dB. That said, what were your settings and can you post a sample? It's really hard to know exactly how to minimize the grain when we cannot see what you see, and do not know the camera settings.

Neat Video is an excellent noise reduction tool. Try their demo version first. It has save me a number of times. Their grain removal for still photos is nothing short of remarkable!
Hope this helps.

If you use Neat Video try not to over do it. If you over do it then your video will look too polished and fake. Also, Instant HD has a noise reduction section that also works well.
