How did they do this?

This video is awesome. Im thinking photo stop motion but I could be wrong. Any tutorials on how to do this?

I love that the goose follows the band around... Im sure that was happy accident.

It appears like it is stop motion, but they also use some slo-mo as well.

I think they did it over and over and then dropped the unused frames. It's essentially creating stop motion.

Very impressive.

looks like a lot of very carefully choreographed stop motion & speed ramping. I count at least 4 days of shooting there; especially with the time-lapse on the end.

That is the famous goose that follows the man around everyday. Every news outlet in the country has done a story on that bird. He has gotten more airtime than Charlie Sheen!

i love OK Go's videos, they never do any crazy color gradings, they never go for the "film look" or do any fancy effects, they just go for pure originality and entertainment.

It looks like under cranking, but they actually acted/played the song slow when they recorded the video. Then in post they sped up the footage to sync with the song. Clever but its been done before, not necessarily spanning a couple days like these guys did, but playing the song slow and speeding up the footage to match.

The reason I say video over still camera (stop motion ) is that is how they got:

1. Motion blur on the people circling them. If it was a still camera then they would have to slow the shutter and close the iris, and to do that on a sunny day would require a lot of nd filters. And doing it that way the lighting would not quite match and from frame to frame causing a strobing effect, or much more post time correcting it.

2. that is how they can go from fast to slow to fast motion in 1 shot (like bullet time).

None the less it was done really well, thanks for sharing it. Clever things like this are very inspiring.

I like how they did what is in your link....BUT I work with twixtor as well and Im still trying to guess how they did it all before hand...the setup with the voice and so forth.

I'm guessing they mimed to a half speed audio track which was then sped up (mostly by skipping every second frame) in post.

at 1:03 u also see the camera on some kind of motorized slider system (the shadows). good for the timelapses i guess.
