Barry, How can I save in memory (of camera) current status of mode "FOCUS ASSIST" (ON or OFF) into my camera to automatic "ON" this mode.

It is very inconvenient to ON this mode each time after a turn my camera ON.

Come on, You opened 5 new threads for 5 questions addressed to Barry, send him a private message if he let's you or in one thread write 5 questions.

I think, all these 5 questions will be interesting not for Barry only. I'd like to take out all 5 questions for general discussion if it is interesting for all users.
P.S. Zlatko, thanks for your offer, but I think we should not make a flood beside the point in this topiсs.

I don't know about addressing threads directly to Barry, but I do think it's good to separate issues like the OP has done. These are all interesting questions for discussion. It will also be easier for people to search and find them in the future if they are cleanly separated.

You can't. There's no provision for having it default to on.

Very? Or minor? I mean, it's one button press. Sure, it'd be nice if it stayed in the state you last left it, but it's only a single button press... :)

To be honest - it is terrible problem!!

I think that logically true to include this option to the new firmware because it's obvious necessity.
All personal options (adjustments) should be remembered in nonvolatile memory!!!!!!!

I think it's more a question of remembering to turn it on than one of difficulty… sure it's easy, and sure it's clear when it's on or off, but indeed in the few days I've had with the camera it's an issue that's crossed my mind a few times… especially in a situation where the camera is used in a standard configuration by a variety of non-experts (eg, student assistants shooting events).

I don't know that I'd call it a "terrible" problem, or even a problem… but I would love to see a firmware update that allows the status to be preserved!

Just push the button when you start shooting.

It takes a second. Done.

Yes, in some ways it seems silly to be annoyed by this... but somehow it happens.
I think part of the issue is this... the new focus assist function (red edging) is something I tend to leave on all the time, while the old focus assist function (on HVX/HMC... enlarged center of frame) is something you WOULDN'T want on by default. Since it's something I want on all the time, I want to set it and forget it, as it were, like I can most other features of the camera.

Also, when operating on a tripod, with remotes on the pan bars, and the LCD open, I find it hard to get to the button.

But unfortunately there are a few such buttons in this camera, for example it's necessary to press each time the function button "detecting faces"

I'm sure that I'll find several similar "not-fixed" buttons (or functions)
