GH2 How are these lenses?

So I am looking to buy a few lenses over the next few months. I was wondering if you guys thought they would cover a decent range of focal lengths or whether they are quality lenses in the first place.

1) Samyang 35mm f/1.4 lens- $500

Even though it says that the mount type is for micro four thirds cameras I just want to make sure that this will work for the Gh2 without any adapters of anything.

2) Panasonic 25mm f/1.4 lens- $600

It seems like 25mm is a great focal length for the GH2 while the Voigtlander is awesome, it is also twice the price.

3) Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens- $150 (with adapter)

Super cheap and super fast seems pointless to not buy one of these.

I also have the stock 14-42mm lens that I can technically use if I need to go wider than 25mm but I really hate that lens because it is so slow.

What do you guys think? Is it worth buying these lenses? I have never had to deal with using primes before ( come from a HVX 200 background) so I am not sure if I am covering a wide enough focal range or if I am limiting myself in any way.

You can step forward or backward to get the same from either the 25 or 35, that the other will give you.

I have the 25 and it's awesome!

I also have had and used the Nikkor 50, and that is rated one of the world's sharpest lenses, even if it is just $100.

Take a peak at the Rokinon/Samyang 85 f1.4. Stupid cheap around $300 and sharp as a tack with nice bokeh.

I have the Panny 25, 45 and the Rok 85 and feel I have it all pretty well covered.

Okay thanks! I was wondering if it was worth investing $500 in a jump from 25mm to 35mm. Seems like it will be a little silly. I will definitely look into the Rokinon/Samyang 85.

I'd recommend getting the Samyang in a different mount than M43. M43 is a great mount because it's so easy to adapt too, so I'd recommend getting another mount, as it's a manual lens, you could have a lot of use for it in the future on other cameras. Perhaps Nikon mount, as you're looking at a Nikon lens?

Note that if you get the Samyang in Nikon mount, the focus ring will rotate in the opposite direction than Lumix and Canon lenses. Some of us prefer the Nikon focus ring direction for use with follow focus gears, while others would rather have all their lenses rotate in the Lumix direction.

The Lumix 25mm 1.4 is worth every penny, I highly recommend it. Super fast, sharp, great for photos and video. Autofocus works like a dream, and the focus ring is silky smooth. Here's a still I took with it a couple weeks ago.

Thanks for the heads up. I personally don't think it's that big of a deal for me, but I can see it being a little annoying for someone who isn't used to focusing in that direction.

So I am torn between the Lumix 25MM and the Samyang I feel like it is excessive to get both so which do you guys think I should get?

I'd get the 25, simply because 25/50 is a better combination than 35/50. That being said, I love the samyang 35, and really like the focal length on larger sensor cams.

I have and love the Samyang 85mm in the Nikon mount. One additional note: this lens comes in two flavors, one of which has a special chip to confirm focus on Nikon cameras (this is the one I got, it was like $30 more).

Well guys I pulled the trigger on the 25mm and 50mm. I figured it would be safe to stay with at least one Panasonic lens for my first "non-kit" lens. Thank you guys so much for all of the help and advice and I will be sure to let everyone know how I like my purchases!
