Horsing Around with my Micro35

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35

Redrock,

Could you possibly shoot a resolution chart with your adapter on? I know you can find them online and print 'em out.

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35

awesome, i'm getting one, do u know what kinda price range a prebuilt would be in? 100? 200? 500?

Also, can u just post a pic of the rig ur using now? I really like to see what it looks like since everyones looks different, and some are deffinitly more clunky than others

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35

that looks great, what lens is that, its so long! my little 35 mm canon lense is so small

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35

That's what she said!

Naah, it's a fat sigma 24-70 f2.8 wide open. Any small lens will work. I'm trying to get my hands on a wide-angle lens to play with... It's really not that big. Take a look at how big the DVX looks!

Thanks!

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35

This sounds great. Only problem is this newboy can't play the movie. I am using a mac does this make a difference?

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35

WOW, very nice! The company I work with in Miami owns the
professional" version but they are so swamped with wrk that they can never let it go for any of my stuff (especially since I moved to Charlotte, NC) So I would be VERY interested in buying one from ya. Looks great, fantastic work.

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35

Whoa! Just saw the pics of your micro35. That looks like a real cinema camera. I'm interested in buying a prebuilt one if it's not too expensive. Is that matte box homemade too (or the real deal?)? If so, would it be included?

BTW, Awesome footage!

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35

The Matte Box is the $299 Formatt 500. (Not included.)

By the way, get on the list if your not already on it! I'll be sending out information this weekend to everyone on the list. I made a HUGE step with the GG over the last two days! It should make the resoluntion as high as it can possibly get AND got the price down even more! It involves a "Laser"....

Thanks guys!

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35

This looks b-e-a-utiful!

I just signed up - can't wait for that email... Well done on this Redrock, I hope you become very rich and successful as a result of this - maybe if you sell pre-built (or component-parts) versions of the Micro35, you and Jarred could sell it through the DVXUser website, like we do with the 5000mah batteries, etc.

Fingers crossed all goes well, got my credit card standing by...  ;)

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35

redrock,

Been following this thread with great interest. Congratulations on your latest improvements!

Will you, as someone suggested earlier, be filming a resolution chart so we can get some kind of measure of the degree of softening/loss of resolution the system imposes? Your footage of the horses is absolutely outstanding. My only hesitation is over the softening I noticed in that clip, and if you've made strides to improve that I'm all but sold on your design.

Cheers!

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35

I'm going to try and get that done in the next couple weeks. I used a res chart that I printed myself while testing the device. It really helped allot. Especially with sharpness and distortion. I spent many months using it before I finally found the right combination. Then once it looked good on the chart, I walked outside and filmed a couple of horses.

I'm really surprised with "the sickest setup ever" post over in hardware. I swear that my resolution looked much better than that of the mini35. Is it just me? Its possible that it was a focus or light problem or something... But, after seeing it, I'm SO happy with my setup! The voice in my head saying, "you still don't have the real thing", has gone away.

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35

redrock,

I agree about the mini35 stills. I don't know if those particular stills are representative of the best that unit has to offer, but your horse footage was significantly superior IMO . . . more resolute and better dynamic range.

I'm just reluctant to give up ANY resolution, so it really becomes a balancing act for me between the amount of resolution I'll actually have to sacrifice to get that great looking DOF that your footage demonstrated.

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35

I feel ya. But I guess it's all about what you're trying to accomplish in the end.

The new GGs should be ready on Monday. I'm being told that they're about as fine as AND thin as a gg can get. Either way, I'm totally stoked with quality so far, and it can only get better!
