Site Update!

Well, I've finally come out of the garage from a week of solid progress. I made a huge discovery with the way the adapter mounted on the rails. The height wasn't correct. Now the adapter has been flipped to accommodate the proper rail height. Although, I've got to delay the guide a few more days to update the drawings accordingly.

I've also added a Bogen/Manfortto mount for the rail setup. This should make it nice when dismounting the camera.

Here are some pics from the first article of the 'Pre-Assembled' unit.

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35

This is really exciting. How long does the do it yourself kit take to put together (I'm assuming a while if it's $250 dollars worth of labor) and do you need any machining tools?

The resolution tests aren't bad at all. The diffusion will probably add a little softness to blown out highlights, too.

How much does this set up weigh?

Also, make sure it can use canon lenses!

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35

The adapter can be built for ~$45. The guide is also $45.

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35

I can't wait to see some pictures of the DVX User homemade ones (once the guide is released). I want to see if it looks as professional as redrock's.

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35

i hear a mattebox is required or else you'll get way too much light going into the 35mm lens, is this true?

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35

Shouldn't be much more true than with the stock DVX (assuming you use a decent, coated, 35mm lens). A mattebox is great to have though.

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35

Hey guys,

Sorry for the delay!

I finished machining the first set of rails. I'll have the base powder coated this weekend.

The base is adjustable for different cameras.

The nice thing about this setup is that you can use it without a micro35...

Here's the OCT19 mount that's going to be used on the first Pre-Assembled unit.

And here's a pic of the Mattebox mounted on the rails.

Almost there!!

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35

are you going to sell these premade? If so, when are you starting.

Also what is a good lense to slap on this thing. Has the new ground glass taken out any of the softness of the image? How are the dark corners coming?

ANSWERS MAN ANSWERS!! :)

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35

if we build our own micro 35, then how much are the rails gonna be?
what brand of lenses is it gonna be for?

Re: Horsing Around with my Micro35
