GH2 horizontal banding issue gone?

my camera's serial number starts with WE1C and I'm experiencing banding issue too.
It's noticeable enough to return the camera back to the dealer. I'm not sure if it's fixable by the firmware. Knowing Panasonic customer service , they most likely will not admit this defect.
Not willing to take this risk.

Mine only appears in iso 3200 when underexposed, so it's not a frequent problem for me, but obviously I would prefer if it was fixed. If it's a sensor thing it's kinda weird, as it doesnt appear in the photos mode, nor the live view before I hit record. Panasonic may fix it, as they fixed the recording color issue with the af100, which I think is the same as the gh2, although that is a different division, so they cater for a different market

HI
New here and just got the GH2 but WE0K series.
Sorry bit out of the loop, but want to ask if I need an upgrade firmware for it in general?
Is this series defective?
Thanks

Got my PAL GH2 three days ago , also WE0K series (MADE IN CHINA). Until now seems not to have banding issues . Maybe a little bit in ETC mode in high ISO.
The video mode in this little monster is AMAZING.

Sorry if my English syntax is bad , but i am from Greece.

Are people with the Japanese version also experiencing some banding at high ISO?

The banding issue is the GH series Achille's heal and I wish Panasonic would've completely fixed it after the GH1.

did you update the firmware?
ETC is on Fn1 button wright? Can you avoid having the iA (intelligent auto)? Can't match my manual settings since it's on automatic mode.

Also sorry for syntax I'm from France

There is no firmware update yet for the GH2.You can set the Fn1 , Fn2 , Fn3 buttons from the menu to whatever function you want. You can set the exposure mode to Manual from the Q.menu.

thanks for that; I did set Fn1 to iA because it seems to be the only function that allows me to use the ETC mode, when I use this i get my manual settings and i can get to different settings on Q.menu. When I leave ETC to normal lens mode, i get stuck with iA and the only two options I have on Q.menu are standard and B&W standard., which won't quit IA. Sorry this is a pain, thanks.

I just can't understand why you want to use iA and have manual settings !!! iA is an automatic mode my friend.
If you want manual adjustments set the dial to movie mode and go full manual - Aperture priority - Shutter speed priority or in auto exposure mode within or without the ETC mode.

Hope that helps! And by the way this is a thread about banding issue , not about GH2 settings .

Very first batch of GH2s ever built? Maybe it's pre-production :p check the HDMI output and see it it's true 24p...

If it indeed gives true 24p, HDMI o/p it solves all the problem...Can anybody please check these serial numbers if they do record 24p...If they do, then Vitaliy, should be able to extract the code from the camera and apply it to others....I guess it might not be as simple as I am assuming:)
moxrox, needs an external recorder to test the HDMI, 24p o/p.

I have one of these cameras (WE0K series PAL MADE IN CHINA) and strangely i bought it a week ago from amazon.uk .
I have not tested the HDMI output yet , i intent to do this soon but in the menu it allows me to set the output at 1080i or 720p. I don't think it outputs 1080p.
And it seems not to suffer from banding issues. So far so good.
