GH2 horizontal banding issue gone?

I gotta do more testing, but I didn't see the horizontal band from my recently acquired GH2 with WE1C serial. "1C" implies March 2011. 24p, 3200 ISO, 160 SS, -1.5EV looked clean.

Can those with the same serial batch confirm it?

If the issue is gone, I guess those older batch units could be replaced by Panasonic.

Thanks for the serial number.

It's always been my stated opinion that later models would have some hardware change to solve the problem - that's why I cancelled my GH2 order when it arrived in-store, preferring to wait for a later production run.

Now it looks as if I can finally buy one.

As for Panasonic exchanging earlier units - I very much doubt it. They will never admit there was a problem, even though there almost certainly was.

I'll be checking tonight. My GH2 arrives today. It was one of the latest batches that PD got so I figure it's probably a later serial #.

My first GH2 serial starts with WE1B - my second arrives today vis UPS. If the second is a WE1C I'll do a side-by-side comparison test. We'll see...

Actually I tried to get the horizontal blue banding. -1~-2 EV and 40~160 SS. Happily failed to get it.

What is the sure way to get the banding? White background? Blue background?

When people had issue w/ GH13's FPN, didn't Panasonic replace it? They disabled hack though.

Yes, what is the best way to get it? And are we talking about the banding that happens in areas with broad areas of one color, such as blue skies?

when you say banding, do you mean like, this; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colour_banding or do you mean an actual band, like a horizontal line, i got a GH2 in january (UK) which has a horizontal line 3/4 the way down in video mode at iso 3200 when it's underexposed by about a stop, not the biggest problem in the world, but i find it weird that it only shows up in video mode

Yes that actual horizontal line band. I couldn't get it. Actually I was quite surprised at GH2's performance at ISO 3200.

Man....I totally forgot about the "band" issue... I have not seen anything like that in any of my footage. Had my GH-2 "about" two weeks now.

Another indicator, not 100% reliable though, of new hardware fix is a bunch of new reviews on a same product. GH2 has been getting a lot of new reviews lately.

got my WE1C camera today.

Bands are still present, just VERY faint. They only show in footage that would otherwise be unusably dark anyway.

I'm happy with the banding performance so far. It performs so much better than my GH1.

It's also interesting how there is a sudden flood of available GH2's.

OK, I now have a WE1B and WE1C in front of me. How would I set up the two to test for the banding? I also have a 20mm 1.7, the 14-140 and the 14-42 if that helps at all.
