HMC40 Announced

it works fine. although i need a raincoat for this cam, rainy season is kicking in! luckily no cold weathers here or id be bitchin too :P

Does this even have an on-board mic? I can't see one anywhere.

I wonder if the audio adapter is still the AG-MYA30G. I still have mine. Looks just like it.

I am pretty sure the lens, chips, the LCD screen and firmware are from the TM300, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Aperture/gain is implemented like on consumer Pana camcorders, no separate gain control. Shutter speed is controlled from the menu. There is built-in mic for whence the external XLR setup is not used. The horrible-looking handle will be included, but the XLR adapter and the mic will not. The viewfinder is flimsy, much worse design that on the HMC150 and HM100, does not look that it will last a long.

For $800 difference, the HMC150 is a much better product.

I am not sure that 720p and 30p and a handle justify twice the difference in price compared to the TM300. But it does have "AVCCAM" on it if this matters to someone.
