HMC150 all over sales threads, why? New model out?

Im just curious, I go to marketplace and see allot of HMC150/151 and also on craigslist in Los Angeles. Is there a new Panasonic camcorder that is pretty hot right now that everyone is trying to buy?

It could be a combination of people moving up to the AF100 or positioning themselves to get either the AC160 or AC130 when they arrive this fall. The AC130 seems to be an updated HMC150, with improvements in just about every area (spec wise). AVCHD recording with the same modes as the 150 plus DV recording, a 21x zoom lens, dual card slots, high rez VF and LCD and the same chips as the HPX370. Under $4000 puts it in a very appealing range for a lot of people.

The AC130 and 160 won't be available until fall though, so I'm not sure why people would sell their cameras so soon.

It's possible they're anticipating a rougher marketplace if they wait too long to sell and it also can take a bit of time to move equipment worth a couple of thousand dollars or more. Other owners might be moving into the AF100 or other large sensor cameras.

Sold mine after I bought a GH2. Didn't want to wait to long with the AC130 out and other options available.

Still a great camera. Just can't afford to keep both in my situation.

How is that transition from HMC150 to GH2 working out for you?

Turns out I like the GH2 for the work I do. Shot 1 short with it so far. I haven't fought the rolling shutter issues yet. It'll be interesting.

The image is great on the GH2. Need to go with something else for audio.

Still love the HMC150.

Hey Allen,

I watched most of your movie about the "not back to school camp". Very well done, nice work. I recently bought an HMC 150...and wonder if I could message you with some questions ?
