Hi folks. I have about 60 hours of footage I shot while traveling throughout Asia and some behind the scenes footage of shooting my second film The Glass Box ( http://www.theglassboxmovie.com Reviews are most welcome)

All of the traveling footage was shot on my handycam and on miniDV tape. From my previous film I have burnt out the deck 3 times from scanning through and loading footage. Does anyone have any suggestions for a reliable deck I can use to scan through and dump my massive amount of footage? Any help would be most appreciated! :dankk2:

You could use a cheap miniDV camcorder, such as the Canon ZR900, as a cheap deck. However, I don't know how well it would stand up to 60 hours of footage!

Is there no type of unit that serves just as a deck?

Yeah, lots of them. Just depends on your budget. Check the catalogs and online dealers.

I'm going to second Jim's DSR-11 suggestion. I've had mine for 6 years now and it's still going strong. However, it has been discontinued. The replacement is an HDV version (that will still handle DV and DVCAM), the HVR-M15U. Same price point as the DSR-11.
