AC90: Histogram

I'm trying to understand how to read a histogram. It looks like a handy tool on the AC90. Any links or advice appreciated. I can see it spiking, and shifting to the left or right, but I don't understand how it maps what the camera is seeing in terms of exposure. How do you guys use it?

And you might take a look at the wave form monitor. That's probably what most folks use when setting exposure.

AC90 doesn't have a waveform monitor, it only has a histogram.
