I hate the Zebra system. Could somebody please tell me how to activate the Histogram in Cine IA on the FS7? We use Slog 3 with a 709 Lut. I cant find the histogram in the menu and am not sure on how to use it with our configuration. If somebody could help me, it would be very helpful. Thank you.

Histogram - I prefer the WFm - is under video signal in one of the menus

Its not available in all modes due to the lacking cpu in the fs7

Strongly suggest you download download the "FS7 / FS7 II Quick Reference Guide" as it will probably answer a lot of questions for you quickly without having to wait for answers on the forum. Seeing as a lot of the questions you are asking indicate you are very unfamiliar with the camera I think this will help you get to grips with the FS7 better. As the old saying goes, read, learn and inwardly digest. It goes a long way to help understanding. Check out page 56 to get your head around the CIne EI mode and as MM alludes to using the WFM for exposure is going to be a big help.

In the menu diseable objectif compens.distors to have your lut 709 enable + WF and expose @90. i recommand shooting @ iso 800 expose @90 WFM when your camera send lut 709 on your viewfinder and in post underexpose your rushes. i use kojicolor luts who match very well with Fs7 slog3 cineEI overexposed. If you use premiere pro you can't setup correctly your exposition with lumetrie so you can use 3dlutcreator or 3dlutcalc to underexpose your lut and sent it to premiere pro lumetrie. idealy, i prepared my luts in three variations (first underexposed @800iso, second @1000iso thrid @1400 and original one @2000 iso. With this set of 4 luts you can setup correctly your exposition directly in PP lumetrie.

Actually, I owe you an apology. You're right. It doesn't work in every set-up, recording RAW with the XDCA and my old Odyssey O7Q it didn't work. They fixed it to work in in HFR and UHD.

How are you trying to shoot? There are many other options more detailed then "Cine EI" mode.

I prefer to set up my User Menu with a lot of quick access features, such as Monitor LUT, Clip Name, Display settings, etc etc to make a shoot day a simpler process.

In Cine EI Mode, say we are shooting 4k 23.98, Slog3.sgamut.cine, and S-Log 3. I will set my Monitor LUT to the viewfinder, the SDI2/HDMI ports. SDI 1 and internal record remain without the monitor LUT. Sometimes I will shoot with a user loaded 3d LUT from an SD card, but if there are more than one Sony camera shooting on set - I pick one of the camera LUTs such as Rec709 or LC709typeA, we all choose it and monitor that way together for consistency.

With the camera set this way, I have no problem with going into the display menu, and switching on the waveform (or histogram, though I prefer to user a wave form).

Are you not sure how to get to that menu setting, or when you get there is it greyed out? If the latter is true, what settings are you recording in? are they different than what I mentioned above or the same?

And then there are people like me who have no use for monitor LUTs, no use for the histogram, no use for the waveform, and who find the stock viewfinder to be more than adequate.

Personally I only use monitor LUTs when checking a scene and only on my Odyssey. Otherwise, I'm just fine with WFM. Really think that is a more appropriate video tool than Histogram, but Histogram has proven useful in HDR shooting to expose to the right.
