(Will the Hotshoe mounted RA-V1 LANC accessory continue to work with the new S21, even though the S21 has LANC port on the side of the camera?)

( long version... )

Hey all, I have been determining which canon cameras to get for a new stereoscopic rig.

I was leaning towards the HFS11, however I have come to realize that there are some limitations with the layout of the ports which pose a real nightmare when it comes to monitoring both cameras on external monitors.

With the newer HFS21 series, this problem can be alleviated because the component and HDMI are on opposite sides, meaning one camera can use the component out and one can use the HDMI while still being positioned immediately adjacent to one another.

New problem... the LANC

The two cameras will be controlled via lanc which allows synchronization of many functions. Unfortunately the LANC port is on the side of the camera which once again causes a conflict when attempting to position the 2 cameras immediately adjacent to one another.

I thought of a way to fix this problem by using the the RA-V1 lanc accessory plugged into the mini advanced hot shoe? will this still work with these newer cameras even though they have native LANC ports?

No good! Dreaded rolling shutter. one camera would roll one way while the other rolls the other way thus breaking the stereo pair. :(
