hey yo another music video

I think you did a great job with this video. Nice mix of shots with some interesting compositions. A little bit of a story thrown in. Some cool timelapse sections. Editing is clean. Sure the singer was a little bit off, but this being his first and also since the whole thing was improv, I can see the issues. But, don't forget to Direct. If you feel the actor/singer (yes, everyone in the video is an actor) isn't performing to a level you think is required, tell them... Direct them!

this was badass
congrats
loved all the shots
how did u get that greenish look (club scenes) was it green cans in the club?
nice song too
but that lil' cap of his just has to GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
at least when his on stage.

Unix: the greenish look is all final cut cc, and his cap... yeah! hahaha i know man, he didnt want to take it off.
RomanJaquez: Locos are a great band, I love them, the final version of "La Noche" will be on the site soon, I'll post it up here too.
tjohara99: got a few videos coming up on dvx, I'll get in touch with you

It looked good, but I had to watch it w/ the volume down. Cheesy ass lyrics and melodies really get to me.

One question: How did you speed up the outside footage while keeping the artist and inside footage normal speed? I checked to see if you cut out the window and matted the outside footage but it all looks like one shot. Which its supposed to when its done right like yours : )

Eh....I'm guessing you chromakeyed them, and added the background masking it out to do the parts where video shows through it.

That's fine though...I'll figure it out

Lots of different ways to do that ipod look, these are just variations on that idea:

Queer Eye style:

Pleasantville style:

iPod style in photoshop

anyway, these are just some ideas to help you get started on that style of effect. You can do a search on goole to fins other creative ways of creating this effect.

DVX100Shooter: I just used the crop tool in final cut and cropped the window, mirror and street out. Then I just used iStopMotion to timelapse the footage that was playing inside the window, mirror and street. Then I put both shots on top of each other and feathered the edges a little.

waltind: Thanks for the tips! The way we got that look was much more simple tho. The light boxes are Kino Flo Lights. Then all I did was color correction in FinalCut and made the whites green or yellow doing some crazy flashes in between, and crushing the blacks of course. For the Ipod look I did something similar, crushing the blacks all the way. This is 100 percent color correction.

Cool video! I liked the sped up back ground at the beginning of the video. I thought those dancing/ipod lady scenes were used too much throughout the film, it got sort of repetitive by the end of it. But GREAT job and you had some awesome locations that made the video very interesting to watch.

Yep, that is much more simple. It was very effective, and well done.

 I liked the music and most of the video. The overlay with the girls dancing was cute but didn't seem to add to the story.

Awesome look dude. That's what I'm kinda striving for in my vids. Any camera settings you'd be willing to give up? You said you crushed your blacks.....all in post? I dig that look, I hate, hate, hate seeing ashy DVX shots and in my opinion I see em far too often. Good work man, keep it tup.

Good vid,...really good for a first one. Nice color correction, editing,... The only thing i didn t like was the outside shot... was that midday ? ... way too much shadow and harsh light. Other thant that....keep it up !

HybridCreations: Camera settings were pretty much untouched, 48 shutter speed. I don't really mess around with the scene files all that much, cause I dont know what most of them mean or do. For color correction, I absolutely always crush the blacks, and then play around, experiment.
skart82: yeah it must have been midday, no controled lighting whatsoever.

For the shot of the woman in RED walking towards the camera, did you use a strobe effect for that shot or did you just splice the long shot up into several different edits and adjusted them to get the effect you used? I have seen that done on Music Videos on MTV and I even tried using a strobe effect for something like that I was working on but it didnt quite turn out like I wanted it too.
