Hero4?

I think the bigger question is how long after the release of the Go Pro 4 will they be releasing firmware updates to get the camera to do everything it is promised to do?

I don't want to be negative, but it seems like Go Pro (along with other companies) have promised cool new features & ambitious ship dates, only to be delayed because not everything was working as it was supposed to. And then even after a slight original shipment delay, there are still firmware updates months into the products life that are still getting the kinks out.

The latest Hero3 firmware update has made it incompatible with my Original Battery BacPac, which previously great. Now whenever I put the BacPac on, the LCD shows the wall charger icon instead of the double battery, and the camera drains both batteries in under an hour.

Useless.

Very very strange. I have kind of the opposite.
Before the update the gopro black 3 crashed very often combined with the old backpack. Every day at least 1 or 2 times.
Now I do get the wallcharger icon but it works arround 2 hours without crashing ever untill now.

Never had a problem with my GoPro Hero3... until last shoot, when I used it for the first time with the newest firmware. Four of the thirty clips I recorded were unreadable by the computer. Really annoying.

Maybe the hero 3 will be fixed by the time the hero 4 is released :)
Or maybe they just give up on the hero 3 and release the hero 4 and it works fine

Since I didn't see any benefit to the new firmware for my uses I didn't install it. I understand it's not too hard to go back to the previous version.

I wish I'd known that GoPro didn't recommend SanDisk cards, but honestly, shouldn't a modern device be able to take SanDisk (they have to be one of the most popular and reliable card manufacturers) cards without freezing?
Not only that actually they did recommend SandDisk ultra, but it was the only card they sold on their web store for hero3 for a very long time. They have very bad business politics..

Sandisk Ultra was the card that GoPro recommended at the time of Hero 3 launch. Those cards are evil !
Luckily the sandisk warranty is quite fast. I'm using now my third Ultra 64GB card. The earlier 2 were corrupted and could not be reformatted anymore.
Now with the latest firmware update they dropped the bitrate down to 35Mb for almost all the cards...including sandisk..

Hero4 4k/30p and NAB 2013 has been in predictions at GoPro's own forums.

All I know is that they need to have a Global shutter option to remove the jello effect. Then you can turn it off if you need better dynamic range or whatever.

It's 20 percent smaller.

Actually, the GP is not smaller, but the waterproof cage is.

The GP3+ is the same size, and 2 grams lighter.

The cage is where the 20% reduction is overall size is concerned.

The dimensions of the camera's body are exactly the same as the last one, which means it'll play nicely with the original Hero 3's cases. The 3+ is ever so slightly lighter than the three, but we're talking 73 grams vs. 75 grams, so you probably wouldn't even notice.
