Help with adapter

It doesn't look like a Nikon F mount or a Minnolta M mount either, those and Canon EOS mounts are all the lenses I have.

I thought it looked like a Canon FD as well. Those lenses are not ideal to adapt to EOS bodies. They do make an adapter, but it has an optical element to it, which probably reduces the quality of your picture.

You are better off going with lenses that are M42, Pentax K, Nikon, Contax/Yashica or Olympus (OM). I have retro lenses with everything but the OM mount and they work great.

If you want to learn more about vintage lenses Chris Watson will be speaking on the subject at the WEVA Expo next month and he also wrote an article on Vintage Lenses for EventDV Magazine.

Here's a couple links for you.

Oh well... thanks. Hehe yeah I have a nice collection of vintage glass by now (partial thanks to Chris and his great finds), it's just this lens that still bothers me. Guess I'll get rid of it, figures an old zoom is pretty much useless without IS anyway. Bought it for 10 usd though... :)

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss using Canon FD lenses with a FD to EOS adapter. I find the FD lenses give a very unique look -- very soft and filmic. I shot some test footage the other night out on the city streets of Boston, and the footage reminds me a lot of Taxi Driver.

I wouldn't bother with a $10 adapter from Ebay, though. I would buy one from Fotodiox:

I just ordered several from them: Nikon F to EOS, Minolta MD to EOS (glass), FD to EOS (glass), and M42 to EOS. The M42 adapter is especially good because its heavy duty metal and there's no moving parts -- a very solid build.

They're very helpful.
