Help: Log and Transfer Issue

I'm importing files from a Panasonic HVX200 P2 card into Final Cut Pro via "Log and Transfer". Normally, transferred files have a full circle displayed next to them while untransferred files have an empty circle. After I transfer my clips, Final Cut displays a half-full circle next to the imported files; I do not yet know what this means. When I view the clip, the audio ceases considerably early. I have not encountered this problem before. Any thoughts?

It also appears that the audio is not synchronized with the video. The sound precedes the image by about a half second.

Thanks for the reply NoahK
No, they are not spanned.
It appears as though Final Cut (at least my build) has an issue with importing 24p and 30p from the HVX200. I was able to circumvent the issue by using frame rates like 24pN (native) that don't duplicate images. 24p and 30p duplicate frames and are truly recorded at 60p. I did a bit of testing and 60p, 30pN, 24pN (frame rates that do not make image duplicates) all work fine.
A note to anyone else who encounters this issue: I set my frame rate in Menu>Recording Setup>Rec Format and set the Scene File frame rate (found at Menu>Scene File>Frame Rate) to "Default".

Can't transfer 720p/30p to FCP. Desperate!

Can't transfer 720p/30p to FCP. Desperate!

Hello - I hope you figured out how to solve your problem! I am having a similar problem transfering some footage I shot with the HVX200. I am new to this site and I was trying to figure out how to start a new thread, but I can't do that either! Ugh.

Anyway, I shot the footage in 720p/30p. I was shooting stop motion animation. The footage plays beautifully in the camera and in the transfer preview window in FCP. When I drag and drop the clip into the box to transfer it into the FCP project, the clips are not transferred completely. The circle is filled in as though they transferred completely, but when I play them in the timeline they are cut short. An 8 second clip for example, is cut down to the last two seconds. A few clips worked fine, even though they were shot exactly the same way. None of these clips were spanned.

I am not really up on all the technical language, so I apologize if I am not providing enough detail. Does anyone have any clue how to solve this?

Sorry for jumping in on your topic with another question! Not sure if that is proper etiqutte! I will have to delve into this site a bit more!

Please, please please . . . .

Provide the version numbers for FCP and QT, and also which computer with how much RAM?

We are just guessing unless this information is provided

Thanks for your reply.

The computer is not mine. I am editing at a local film center. The computers are Mac and the version of FCP is 6.1. I just called to ask how much RAM the computers had, but the guy that answered the phone didn't know and wasn't that enthusiastic about finding out. Sorry to be a bit ditzy about this! I thougt it might be a general problem. I saw another posting where someone said to check "remove advanced pulldown and duplicate frames" and another person said to make sure that you have the correct codec set before you log & transfer. I am planning on going to the film center tomorrow to try again. Do you think any of this will help? If so, where do you change the codec?

If I am still being to vague let me know and I will get more details tomorrow! I really appreciate any help!

Next time you're there click the little Apple Icon, and go to About This Mac. -> If you feel like it, click the MORE INFO button to find out more.

in the log and transfer, try right clicking the little gear and UNCHECKING the advance pull down box. No more half circles or red exclamation points. worked for me. hope tha thelps
