Help cant get computer to mount p2 cards from camera

HELLO ALL

I am the new owner of an HVX 200A Camera. So far i have only had it for Two days, and i love shooting with it. Now it has come time to Get the Footage to Final cut. I Plugged my Camera in useing a fire wire 1394 cable, and nothing mounted to my desktop. My Lap top was purchased a year ago, and is running Final cut pro 6. The Operating system is 10.4.11. I have downloaded the p2 driver from panasonic with no luck. The manuals have been no help. At this point im lost. Im sure its something very simple, and im an idiot for missing it. Any help to why i can mount the footage to my computer from my camera would be helpful. Thanks.

The cam should be set 1394 Device in the Other functions menu.

Then press the MCR mode button to get to the thumbnails, and hold down the button for another five seconds to get to the Firewire Connect mode?

The cam should mount if you follow that procedure.

Also make certain the card is write protected before mounting.

and make sure the camera is off and the cable is plugged into the computer first, before plugging in to the camera, then turn on camera.

and FYI, using this method, you do not need any P2 drivers.
