Hello gentlegerms and ladies,

I would like someone to recommend a reasonably priced mounting plate for attaching a Dslr (specifically a Canon 60d...but I'd rather something I can use with other cameras in the future) to a 15mm rod shoulder mount system.

I recently bought a Camsmart shoulder rig to use with a Canon 60D.

It's cheap and as such...a little bit s*%t, but it's Ok for what I needed it for apart from one thing:

The mounting plate is useless. It doesn't fit a Canon 60D...the screw is too long so you can't get it tight enough to prevent it sliding and it comes with a quick release plate that is so badly designed that you can't actually attach it to anything.:Drogar-Happy(DBG):

So, I need a new one. Something simple preferably, for a simple soul such as myself.

I had a similar issue with the QR plate on a MagicRig, but the solution was to swap the included 1/4-20 screw with a replacement from Manfrotto. Cheap and effective.

However, not knowing exactly which Camsmart rig you have (there are several, and they all look incredibly cheaply-built, it's hard to say what woud work for you. Which kit do you have? And as for QR plate, do you need an entire QR assebly to sit atop this rig?

While you are looking for a new rig you can file down the top of the 1/4 20 screw a few mm or add a few mm of rubber between the camera and plate to be able to tighten it all the way down.

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the reply.

The rig is similar to this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/CamSmart-Sh...=UTF8&qid=1418943973&sr=1-2&keywords=camsmart

Minus the handle, magic arm and monitor.

If you look at the other photograph on that page, there's a blue print of what I have.

I'm interested in a whole qr assembly to sit on the 15mm bars, I think. I can do a workaround like you suggested for the time being, but I need a proper assembly going forwards.

Forgive the ignorance...but how would i go about finding such thin rubber? Would rubber adhesive be suitable?

So you want a riser plate and QR assembly. Look at Jag 35 for the riser. For the QR assembly, it's usually good to have one that uses the same plate as your tripod head, for total interchangeability.

Thin, rubber washer from the hardware store.
