HDMI recorder for T2i/550D?

Does anyone have experience with recorders and ye olde T2i? My understanding is that I won't get a full 1920x1080, but a slightly less resolution that will require the video be upscaled. I'm wondering if I'm best off just sticking with the SD cards, or if this is something I should seriously look into. We all hear about using recorders with the higher end cameras (5DIII and up), but I have two T2i's and am trying to decide if it's worth the money to get a recorder or if I should put it toward other needs. I'm overall happy with what I can get from the little Rebel, but some less aliasing would be nice (not sure if this would get solved or not with a recorder), and the 4:2:2 could be good for effects.

Not only is it an SD-rez output during recording, there's no clean feed (so any OSD is recorded as well).

No the External recorder will not avoid aliasing and Moire, you have to use the Mosaic engineering, filter it works with the T4i and T5i, but I know there are some problems with previous models, The first
thing you need is clean image then increase the bit rate with Magic Lantern. In my opinion the best option right now in DSLR from Canon is the 7DMark II, No aliasing and Moire, Better low light performance, Clean HDMI OUT 422

Thanks guys. I've been running Magic Lantern since it first came out for the T2i, so I'm not worried about having a clean signal. Also, my intention would be to only record with the recorder, avoiding the SD out that occurs while recording on the camera. Thanks for the recommendation on the Ninja Star, I'll look into it.
