HDMI Cards ?

No, it isn't necessary at all. There is no HDMI output from the HVX200.

Either you mount the p2 card on the desktop in the FW connect mode, or you use a p2 store or FS100.

Thanks David!

With the HVX (DVCProHD) we already have the 4:2:2 color space, right? Is the Intensity card for HDV cams looking to get better color compression?

4.2.2 is correct.

Not necessarily. Perhaps live capturing with preserve a better color space, but if you are importing via tape, you still start with 4:1:1.

You can't add color space that way.

it makes for a low cost monitoring solution is the big advantage for most folks - you can monitor on low cost HDTVs (with usual non-professional feature lack caveat).

For capture - if you have an AVCHD or other non-supported codec for your NLE, if the camera has HDMI out, you can capture (and even transcode to compressed codecs) using that.

It's a nice card if you want to output to an HDMI monitor... or if you'd like to capture HDV via HDMI out and bypass the long-GOP compression and get some better quality video...

Zone6 I believe you need something like this to preview the hvx200 on a hd tv monitor that has HDMI. With out a card like this you cannot get see the colors accurately.

The quality of the monitor is alot more important than the connection type. A good broadcast monitor with analog component connections is better than a HDMI LCD TV from Best Buy.

Yeah, but Zone would still need a card like this right? Intensity is just the cheapest card.

There are plenty of dual-head HDMI video cards out there that can drive a digital display -- they'll be cheaper, too.

The problem is driving a monitor from 24P footage. Neither the Intensity nor a consumer HDMI video card will do that. The Blackmagic DeckLink HD can do 1080PsF23.98/24, but it won't do 23.98/24 at 720.

you could also get a DVI to HDMI adapter or cable and use your second our on your video card to display fullscreen HD out (if your vid card can handle the resolution).. just for monitoring purposes
