HDFury2 - HDMI to Component

Just got an HDFury2, HDMI to component adapter to use with T2i and my Panasonic monitors.

It works great, no problem when it goes down to SD though you lose resolution and it stretches the image, but that's to be expected. The AC adapter uses a 5V USB adapter & cable so I found I can use any of the USB batteries out there. Best is the Just Mobile gum Pro ($60) at 400mAH - will run the 370mA draw on the Fury all day. Both Battery and the Fury are less than 2" square.

Way cheaper than a Black magic adapter and now I have a waveform for my Canon in my monitor. Cheaper than a new monitor also.

I recently got myself a HD Fury 3, and so far it's working great!

We actually used it to play a HD program to AIR at the NBC station I work at yesterday evening from Premiere through a laptop's HDMI port. We used the Fury to convert to Component which we could send through our frame-syncs to air. First prime-time local HD broadcast in Southeast Alaska.

The HD Fury is the "new broadcast technology" we talk about here: http://www.kath.tv/?page=news&story=105

I've been using the Fury 2 for a few months, and can confirm that the combination of it and the BT-LH80 is kind of magical. It gives the camera the waveform monitor you wish it had. And the Fury converts to component, but it also can be plugged directly into the viewfinder input on the monitor, leaving your component connections free for other cameras if necessary.

While my experimentations with the 7D showed that it could actually power the HD Fury 2 briefly, it isn't worth messing with; when the battery power drops a little, the signal output goes awful. So instead, I highly recommend using an external power supply, and the one Lenny has identified seems pretty much ideal.
