HDD (Hard Disk Drives)

Does anyone have an opinion on storing your footage on HDD?

[David Saraceno]

Are you asking which hard drive is the best or something else?

Personally, I find that storing video footage on HDD is much more effective than scratching zeros and ones into sand while attempting to keep the winds and tides back with occasional blasts of profanity.

It's much better than feeding thousands of floppy disks in to the system for sure.

I use the HDD for storing footage all the time. No other method is as easy or as cost effective in relatively small configurations (less than 100TB).

scratching zeros and ones into sand

I would suggest using both hands simultaneously (raid1)

store footage on 2 HDDs

So far I am at about 50% of my HDD's crashing over the years... Just had a WD 750 green go kaput.

I use fantom external HD got 3, 1TB and a 2 TB is on the way.
They've been could to me!
Usually transcode to dvchpro hd ...and delete those when the project is finished .
For certain clients I keep the original AVCHD files( structure and all ).

Beware of those external harddrives with fancy or goodlooking(shiny) exclosures .

Uh. I guess I though HDD was different than an external hard drive, but I am guessing they are the same:embarasse
