having trouble

Im completly lost. I just recently got my hvx and im so happy for getting it but i havent been able to upload any footage to my laptop because im confused on how to and what all things i need to do. I have been reading topics but im still confused on exactly how to get the footage off my p2 onto my macbook(not macbook pro). I tried to just connect my hvx to my laptop with the p2 in the hvx but my macbook didnt read it. Can someone please explain to me step by step what i need to do and download in order to transfer my footage. I also need Final Cut Pro in order to edit the footage right? thanks. if anyone can help me i would greatly appreciate it

What type of software are you using now?
If you go back through some previous posts in this section you will figure out some answers to your questions. I am just learning all of this myself. I just got Final Cut Studio 2 and that accepts P2 card info. On thing that got me was after you hook your HVX into your mac (through firewire) you have to hit the mode button than after you see your P2 card you have to hold the mode button down for five seconds than it will bring it in. Hope this helps a little. JB

It is important to provide details of what you have done on what and with how much RAM?

Which Macbook?

Specs?

RAM?

Have you downloaded the drivers from Panasonic.

Put the cam is MCR mode twice and mount using Firewire connect?

Help us with details.

thanks guys. Sorry for not listing more info.
my laptop can handle the amount of space the p2 footage will take up so im not worried about the specs. As far as the drivers go i haven't downloaded any. If you could give me a link to the ones that i need to download i would appreciate it. How exactly do i put the camera into MCR mode?(twice?) and I just have the Adobe CS3 collection.(im currently trying to get Final Cut so i can manage the footage)thanks

On the back of your camera to the left of the battery it says P2/Tape media. Make sure the switch is on P2. Than open your viewer and the screen will be black with 4 white lines. To the left of the switch you moved to the left is a button. Hit that button once. Now you will see your P2 info. I have FCS2 so not sure what the CS3 looks like but you hold that button down for 5 secs and than your firewire will bring it in. Hope this helps. JB

Here is link for drivers:https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro...pcdriver_e.htm

CS3.0.1 will import the native mxf files.

I had asked for the MacBook specs that is relevant for a number of reasons other than disc space.

Let us know.
