I didn't mean to be too dramatic...I just say give the guy a break - he has trees for hands and feet for god's sake!
 
I don't think anyone here is actually making insulting jokes against that person, its more like black humour, we joke about it in order to humanise.

I mean I think I was one of the first to mention that I wished the best for him and hoped he would get treated soon.

But I think we are all responsible adults here, and know the difference between derogatory insults and black humour (even if its a very fine line).

Heck I'm sure he has been hurled with much, much more offensive insults in real life then the harmless spot of black humour here (all in good heart, no evil intentions).

Darn if I meet the poor chap, I would not hesitate to shake his hands.... er assuming its humanly possible (I joke, I joke) :)

we are just trying to look at the lighter side of something that is of course very sad indeed.

"Its ok to Joke, BUT don't take the piss" its about knowning the difference.

EDIT:

I wonder if mainsteam media exposure of this guys plight might help to get things moving, like those News storys of really exceptional cases you usually see now and then.

I don't see what anyone's worried about... trust me, that guy's got thick skin... I'm sure he could read this thread and still sleep like a log.

If he can earn a sawbuck at the side-show then let him be. We're all supposed to be "going green" and this guy just happens to be ahead of the rest of us.

Don't expect him to uproot his family and move to the USA... the guy doesn't want to go out on a limb.

Obviously most people are sensitive enough to be concerned about the mans well being.

The joking around here is just that but if it's uncomfortable to a family member
I'm sure a mention to the mods would be sufficient and they can act accordingly.

I don't think anyone meant ill intent, but as I say, if it's bothersome you can request the thread be shut down.

If there's a mod tiring of my sappy comments please say so...

That guy was going to buy a dinette until he realized it would cost an arm and a leg.

There's a dutchboy wooden shoe joke in here somewhere, but I can't seem to flush it out...

While it's true that your remarks were lumbering heavily on our minds, we were initially stumped as to what to do.

Clearly, however, you can ply wood jokes all day, and at the very least the members will never be bored.
 
You mean they'll never be board... as in "he was always a normal boy, we never thought he'd be board".

I was tempted to start a new thread when I read about a man who isn't just half man, half tree... but actually 95% tree!

Er... sorry... I'm truly hopeful that he will just take the pills so they don't have to cut off that limb.

He must be knocking on wood so that his kids won't have the same thing..although at least one of them has it...and who said you couldn't go places when your disabled.
