H.264 Pro Recorder

Hi
I 'm interested if someone has tried this encoder http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/h264prorecorder/ to connect to the HDMI out of GH1 and then to a FullHD laptop?
The idea is not to push the record button on the camera, just shooting in preview mode and recording to the lap hard drive. Of course it is not suited for handheld shooting but for long static events like lectures or similar...
The question is if it is possible to get a picture over HDMI while in preview shooting mode and for how long?
Thnx

First, it looks like postpned for many months now.
Next, GH1 do not have HDMI out in either framing or recording.
GH2 resolution and framerate in framing will be different compared to recording.

just called them and they said it is not a recorder, it is an encoder and you still need to run it to your computer where it gets recorded on your hard drive

I wrote recorder in the title..my mistake, but as I stated later you need a computer to record. I'm able to get a live preview picture by pushing the delete button for 10 sec. when the camera is connected through A/V out. Since I don't have any HDMI monitor or device I didn't know if this is possible with HDMI. If this could work, to have a HD preview without the need to record to the camera it would be enough for me.

Again, no HDMI out in live view or record modes on GH1, only during playback. On GH2, live view mode provides 1080/60i signal with no artifacts. When recording in cinema mode reportedly the signal is 1080/24p, but artifacts (blinking red dot, timer) are added. It is not yet known if those artifacts can be hidden by an internal setting when camera will finally ship.

I know you wrote recorder but so did the manufacturer when the thing clearly does not record. I asked them why they are calling it a recorder when clearly it is just an encoder and they didnt have an answer. Of course now they are going to have a meeting to spin the wording around. I was truly hoping it actually recorded and could replace my p2 cards.
