Guns

to get the most realistic look, you have to go with something that shoots a blank, I have a couple 9mm replicas that shoot 8mm blanks, and flash out the top of the chamber, they are plugged so they are completely safe as well, and the shell ejects out the top as well, which is bad ass. A lot of people get hung over on the flash that comes out of a barrel (excessively adding them in post) but don't realize that a lot of the time, that doesn't happen at all.

Oh, you can find these kinds on eBay for like 80-100 a pop.

now we need a tutorial of how to add the flash (in post) when a bullet is shot.

I did a quick google and found all the muzzle flashes to look very pasted on. I would love to check a method that comes close to reality or what we see in movies,:kali: whichever is cooler.

Use a gun that fires blanks?

=P I wouldn't know.

Anyone know where I can find a cool replica Mp5?

i like the blank firing ones because they aren't made of plastic, meaning, they are going to have the weight of a real gun (and not break). I just like to get as close to real as possible.

I know the DigiEffect Delerium plug-ins package (for AE) has a muzzle flash effect. I've definitely seen it used effectively.

I converted an FN-FAL to blank-firing. Muzzle flash is massive, though at 600 rounds-per-minute and $1 per blank, it quickly became expensive! Thankfully magasines were only 20 rounds!

We made submachineguns from Ruger 10-22s with updated plastic stocks (to look like submachineguns), 100 round banana mags, and converted to full-auto and blank-firing. Muzzle flash isn't as big, but you get a nice stream of shells being ejected.

We also used live rounds, but the concussion from an M14 or FN firing full-auto would wiggle the video tape and cause drop-outs. Not to mention the crew going deaf.

I had a restricted weapons permit, so was able to do this with no probs (got the permit specifically to make ultraviolent war movies.) Ahhh, the eighties...

I read that most of the muzzle blasts in flicks are actually rotoscoped in or some version of optically printed.....
I think the actual muzzle flashes are either animated or composited recordings of weapons varied and editied or somesuch...
I picked up 2 FN-P90S, A G36, and AK from a surplus store
(selling of returned airsofts and airguns for almost nothing)

want to do a short with the p90s this summer... just because
Im thinking of using the battery packs rechargeale in all their goodness to hook up a strobe or some sort of led to the trigger, I know it was done in some older fashioned movies.
Or I may take out some real firearms and try film it highspeed but it seems a waste of time.
Have any of you had any luck with a strobe or somesuch as a flash?
Could be done as a matt if properly combined? Frame by frame I imagine...

Hey From CAnada, im not gonna try to Import from the USA, ALl i can find are sites offereing Airsoft Guns from USA...
Anyone Know of a good Canadian Site offering Airsoft guns?

If i were to have a gun that fired blanks I would have to have a licenced pyrotechnician and a gun handler on top of insurance driving the budget up. The scene for me is going to be short, quick one and the line after the shot is really the kicker in that scene.
