I saw a used HVX for sale and wanted to know if it was a good deal. I believe it has 300 hours on it and is a 9 out of 10 in shape

comes with 2 batterys
3 p2 chips 1 ( 16 ) and 2 ( 8's )

The guy said the lowest he would take is 3700 is that fair ??

I saw a new hvx-200a with a 16 gig card going for $ 5100 so im not really sure.

I have around 3500 to buy a camera and wanted to know what my best option would be. That would be for a camera and a way to record media on it. Im not tryin to spend 3500 on a camera and a grand on a chip .... thanks a lot for all your help

300 is not bad. I just sold mine, camera only for $2600 here in NYC, the 16 gb card is worth about $600, so $3500-3700 sounds about right for everything. See if you can get the first two items I mentioned for $3200... those 8gb cards are obsolete and not worth the extra $500 anyways.. there's been some discussions in this forum about what to look for when buying a used HVX200, I myself have wrote on it.. do a search, there are a couple of things to look for, which if you didn't own an HVX you'd have no idea to look for.. and you can use that as a bargaining chip..

hope that helps..

do you know there is a difference between HVX200 and HVX200A? HVX200A is an upgrade of hv-200 thats so i would advice you go for the HVX200A look and by the P2 cards later maybe after the NAB show Panasonic might reduce the P2 cards retail price or you can go my way and buy a HVX-205A which is made in Japan and i bought it for $3043 including shipping and handling and it works good no problems so far brand new....

Hi,

Yes pay attention to whether it is an HVX200 or an HVX200A, that should drive the price. The HVX200 has been discontinued for about a year, and the the HVX200A has a quieter image, with better low light performance.

Hope this helps,

Jan

Why would that be? With two P2 slots on the HVX and continous swaping any extra P2 card just lengthens your non-stop recording time.

touched a nerve.. as a former owner of two 8 gb cards and having paid $1500 each originally and gone through using a p2 store myself, bigger is better... if you have 500-600 to spend get a 16 gb card instead of two 8gb cards... swapping out & transferring cards is not fun. after NAB the prices will drop again.. my prediction.

The 200A is a big improvement over the 200 in its most challenged circumstances - low light. IMO it's very much worth whatever extra a used one might cost, which I'm guessing might not be all that much by now...

I am thinking about selling mine since I am moving back to LA... I have a HVX 201E PAL with, 2 batts, 32 PS card, Mic...Less then a year old thinking about price

Buying a used camera is like buying a used car.. you can't tell how the person took care of it before you. no warranty , no refund. It's risky to trust people in being honest especially when everyone tries to get every thing they can out of you. save up for a new one!

Or you can try your luck !
