I will be going to CA in few weeks and Im going to a used camera store to check out some lens for my gh2, Im on a budget ($150-200) for a good low light lens and maybe another one.
also any info on lens adapters taht ill need

Ive seen the Lumix 20mm 1.7 & the 14mm 2.5 , whats better for low light? also i only have the 14-140mm right now if that helps!

Thanks

20mm 1.7 is better in low light as far as the numbers go. I can only speak for it as I don't own the 14mm 2.5. It is very good in low light. Also has a more shallow DOF. However being a prime lens, you don't have control over the focal length. Another thing to take note of, it doesn't have the OIS like other Panasonic lenses. I just make sure I'm using tripod/monopod or steadicam when I'm using it. But the price is slightly over budget at $360 unless you find it on Ebay...

The 20/1.7 is good, but I'd be surprised if you found one for $200

There are plenty of fast 50's available for any number of systems within that budget, plus an inexpensive yet reliable adapter from someplace like Fotodiox; however, 50 is rather telephoto on µ43, so you may want a little wider. Legacy 28's and wider tend to be slower at f2.8 or so.

For a cheap fast normal lens on GH2, your best bet may be to research some of the various C-mount CCTV lenses in the 25mm, f1.4 range. Several are available that don't vignette much.

For the budget in question you can find a Canon FD 35mm at F2.0 for a decent price. A bit faster then F2.8 options and much faster then the 14mm to 140mm. Not super wide on M4/3 but a lot wider then a 50mm FD lens. There is also a 28mm FD lens at F2.0 but it will cost you around $200.00 to $300.00. At around the same price of the Lumix 20mm F1.7 it is somewhat debatable if it is worth it at that point unless you really like the creamy look of the FD lenses.

I have yet to find a wider FD then 28mm at a speed faster then F2.8. Perhaps one is out there but it will not be easy to find or cheap.

Nope. Still keeping my GH2 and Af100. Just selling some unused lenses. I bought them for a feature which came in handy but for corporate stuff I don't need them.
The mount is OK on this one.

Are you getting out of the m4/3 game? I see you have a lot of gear up for sale?

Nice lens. Is it one of the ones that had a loose mount? (since a lot of the early copies had issues). Great price and local... hmmm it is my birthday in a week.

To use that lens, you'll need a C-mount to m43 adapter, and you will only be able to use it in ETC mode. Seb Farges has a few Vimeo tests with this exact lens.

I just ordered a C mount 25mm. Can you help me understand why I would have to use it in etc mode and what happens if I dont...?

Bgundu,

Thanks for the quick reply.

Will none of the cmount converted lenses cover the sensor? Is this why CCTV lenses get such back vig..?

longer telephoto C Mounts ie 25mm or higher that are made for 1/2 inch or bigger sensor SOMETIMES can cover the m4/3 sensor without ETC, but it's a gamble.
