I AGREE

4 person crew this time. All GH-1 nikon lenses except one shot. A lot of fighting, moment etc. Love to know what you guys think. Christina and I's 3rd Video Directing together.

Who could resist watching a video with this title? Thought it worked quite well overall. There were a few really nice magic hour shots near the end, where the hands were being strapped, some more of that would have been nice.
The only critique I really have is some of the handheld cutaways had a large amount of judder and some jello. It's not as noticeable on the action shots but when it's a little weird on some the CUs.
Great work!

Hey man, that was super well done, great shots all over the place, no shot I didn't like, except a couple of the backlit shots were a little different from the other, way brighter, which was jarring, but they were like 3 shots in the whole thing. Some of the best GH1 footage, but also a solid video that had a storyline. From a directing standpoint I would have liked to see a little more out of the rapper, he seemed a little monotone in his delivery, a little stiff.

All in all excellent stuff.

PS it's crazy to me that no one is commenting on this? I saw another thread about this seems like people love to talk about videos of pets in living rooms but not actual work!

the performance shots, nice clean and crisp, well lit. nice!
the training/fighting shots, sweaty, gritty, well defined. great separation of the two aspects thru lighting and CC. great location too. i watched it muted, so no comment on the music :-)

thanks for posting this. i love my gh1, and this is great footage.

Thanks for the comments

glad you like the color correction during the end... it felt right and I wanted more the problem with implementing it more was it wasn't to good looking for our talent and we wanted there image to hold true during the performance.

It was hard to keep a balance between what fit the story and what fit the talents image.

and yes I even stabilized some of the Cu must of the wost offenders where needed for the story or trying to "sell" a look... I'm glad we had them but there not perfect. Glad you liked the action, I slowed it down a bit in the girls fight they really went at it as they both where golden gloves fighters.

Thanks Sean for the Directing comments There was a 3rd vocalist that we didn't have so that's why his section had no performance in it. Deffenatly a challenge for the pacing of the video.

Great to get your thoughts on the performances, the Raper was a challenge since we took the takes that fit where the story was at, and the best looking shots, instead of the most animated performances.

As for the comments I was wondering if the face that its on You tube is preventing people from actually clicking on the link.

wow amazing work man!the grading was nice, the editing was great ..the only thing was the "jello" in some of the shots..

actually, in regards to the jello, i think you got lucky, because to me, it has a "heat wave" look, because it already has a hot look to it in the gym. play that angle :-)

That looked great. The gh1 produces the best footage out of the dslrs IMO. It doesn't have that pastel plasticky look to it like the canons.

thanks again for comments..

color correction really got to be the hard part for me glad you feel it worked. And yes very happy with it, but always looking to improve... now i wish i knew a way to get people to watch it...

the GH-1 which for smaller shoots where a monitor isn't needed I think its a great alternative to the canons. Especially in concert shooting.
since the shoot was pushed back we did have lots of pre production time which preparation is a must when the crew is small and your whereing many hats. Also helped with working with Christina consistently, watching each-others backs and neither of us afraid to say what we need.

Hey Vincent, I really like this one! The shots looked amazing and and I found that the jittery shots fit really well with the vibe of the video. Excellent work!

Used Neoscene to prosses which I can't stress enough who helpful that is. Then I used a PC Windows 7 system with 6 gigs of ram Quad 6600 ... running Premier cs4 which Rocks! other then multi-cam being limited to 4 cameras and embedded multi-cam gave some hic ups :(

then a bit of after effects for Color correction but about half is straight from camera. Used Magic Bullet Looks some of the Color correction.

Premier has been great for going through lots of different file types... I'm about to start organizing my 17 TB of footage I have laying around.

As far as the "jittery" shots they really seemed necessary to sell the story or performance and even though we had lots of other great shots the story and performance would have suffered.

i hope you dont find my question kinda dumb, but what was your typical aperture during the shoots? Where you making an effort to shoot wide open?

Great work, btw!

I am a big fan of the shallow depth of field so yes some of this was at 1.4 on the 5omm but since most of the time I was Dolly/ jibing and racking focus myself I tried to light for a F2.8

Nice video. I love this jam. Girl is.....whew...

I like how you turned this into a story. And then there's the ending...she knocks him out with a kiss...lol.
