Gini/Magic Spider seems to have shaped up their act

I've seen a fair amount of criticism leveled against Gini/Magic Spider for being somewhat slow and uncommunicative, but I ordered a rig from them on Friday night, and it just arrived today (having shipped at 1 a.m. on Monday C.S.T!) Maybe they've taken some of the criticism to heart.

The rig is quite nice, although I wish I had ordered something with more spare parts. The handles weren't the same as the ones which were pictured, but I think they're just as good. The counterweight doesn't come close to balancing out the rig, but I can likely attach a scuba weight without much difficulty.

Here's the url of my auction:

I was looking at their Magic Handle as a solution for a cheap top handle, pity it's $35 for the Handle (fair) and $45 for postage (get stuffed).

I can understand marking up shipping fees a bit to compensate for extra hassle of international shipping, but Gini's S/H charges are crazy- over $100 for kits? Ridiculous. At least I get eBay bucks credited when the markup is built into the auction price.

I think it's fair to have higher shipping. It's like a way of increasing reserve price, lowering eBay fees and protecting his business.

Just add the costs together: item+shipping=cost. That's always the way to make price comparisons on eBay. Simples.

How much do you pay for it? i see many different prices vary from 199$ to 799$.

Cheers

They're wacky about pricing. They'll throw out the same rigs at wildly different prices. I payed $300 total. The price for parts is crazy, sure, but the rig prices are great, even with the extra shipping cost. And it wouldn't surprise me if two day shipping from Korea really did cost $100.

Their website is worth checking, too, as the prices on there are good as well. It's linked in the auction.

For individual parts it seems like Express35 and Jag35 have the best prices. If you were really proactive though, I'd guess you'd be better off buying a whole rig, from Gini or somewhere, and parting it out on ebay or with a friend. Or on here, I guess.

Yeah, it seems he's doing less business lately, and he's working on communication. I got an email from him thanking me for my order. Shipped from Korea to my front door in like 4 business days. And I got a tracking number also. Now I'm just trying to figure out it if I want to buy an offset piece from Rig X or if I want to do a straight shoulder rig with an EVF.

The shipping fee is to gain a larger portion of their profit without having ebay fees attached.

eBay started charging fees for shipping prices a while ago, same as final value fee nonetheless.

I have been following Gini quite closely and think they've improved also. The man behind the rigs apparently does not speak English well, so communication can get difficult.
