While my buds and I use to explore abandoned "haunted" buildings as a pastime, I've never really been on an actual paranormal shoot.
Goin' to Morse Mill tonight from 5pm to whenever I feel we have a show in the can. We are cleared till dawn Monday.
Got my extra batteries, mondo lights, infared, analog and digital recording sources, a cool mirror for some reflection shot expirementation, and maybe a new show on the horizon. Dude I'm goin with is a recon Marine who is very serious about his "investigations." I on the other hand will be giggly, smartassy and comedic relief as we venture the halls of the haunted hotel as a duo. Nobody else will be in there. Just us. Think Abott and Costello meets Ametaville Horror.
we'll see what happens... stay tuned.

Hell Yeah!!! I'm excited just thinking about that. I love paranormal things, but have never done any kind of shoot for it. I'm mad jealous!

Can you give us a breakdown of all the equipment you are using? Cameras, mics, and whatnot?

Might be fun to start some kind of baseline or something for future people's expeditions.

Awesome!!!

I volunteer to master or enhance any audio you get. Kewl!!!

EDIT: Make sure you shoot in 30p or higher so we get all those extra frames of ghostity goodness!

I wish I could go with you. I'm highly interested in that stuff too... as long as I don't have to live with it again that is.

fun night. Awesome for the adrenaline junkie.
I shot with a Sony FX-1. Used LED lights, a wireless lav and the camera mic. I wanted to record the waves in the air so the wireless otta be fun to check out later.
I also laid an alalog recorder in the attic. Looking forward to hearing whats goin on with it.
I Practiced with an infared scope in front of the lens. I'll be damned if it didn't work. Not practical at all but a compeltely visible image in total blackness with a cool effect to boot.
OUtside of that there were multiple digital recorders and camcorders locked down throughout the house. One kept turning off in one area and in the attic, none of out LED lights would work. They'd start working again when we left but would not while up there no matter the battery status going in. At one point, the bettery life on my FX-1 increased while shooting. No other mechanical woes that I am aware of at this time.

I can't give anything away. You'll have to watch the show...

I've been in and out of this stuff for years... I'm curious to see what you got... and what you do with it. Let us know when you have a link or a show.

When you see a figure come out of the dark who is jet black and he wants to shake your hand . Just say Hello :)

no better forum than dvxuser/cafe section to elaborate...

ps whats creepy is not the ghost part. its the "inhuman watching you" part.

Man, grinner, you get to have all the fun.

My group fizzled out on me. Or maybe it was paranormal beings that got into their minds and convinced them not to do it. Yeah, that's it. Stupid ghosts.

The midwest is ghost central... haunted houses are huge here... STL and KC are nuts in October... on the coasts you rarely see ghosts because they're out surfing or skiing or doing some other cool stuff... but around here ghosts don't have anything better to do then mope around old houses... it works out good for camera crews. (I've shot this stuff also... ALTON has a "ghost hunting" celeb.)

Nobody ever gets scared at surfing ghosts... but ghosts vacuuming or slamming doors scares the B. Jesus out of me... Q. Why do ghosts slam doors anyway? A. They weren't raised right.

Just for effect.

I've seen a few episodes of ghost stories on Discovery. It has some great stories especially those of the midwest. The voiceover guy is real good. I love those dramatic pauses he makes.
Anyone know what cameras these were shot with ?

The Haunting series is a bit hard to watch, since every other show seems to involve Demons. I've been following the Paranormal for quite a while, and it is only maybe 1 in 100 likelihood there is a demon. For the people they show, it seems to be the opposite. Anytime the Warrens show up, it's a demon.

And MattinSTL... them slamming doors isn't so bad, but when they keep slamming doors, and there aren't any in the house? That gets really annoying!

Demons sell just like war etc .

True its starting to look like Supernatural.
I expect these two, Dean and Sam ,to make a camio anytime soon.
