GH4 GH5 could have 4K 60fps and 8K recording?

Unless they give us 1000fps in 8K internal ProRes RAW 1Million ISO, with a base 800 ISO & a FF sensor for under $2000...I'm not interested. Should be easy enough though.

They could deliver all those things and it still won't be cinematic without piss-yellow color science. It gives everything a vintage feel, like when everybody had jaundice.

I'm going to say no on the 8K. That is over twice the number of pixels than have ever been packed into a m43 sensor or even into most full frame sensors.

The actual story doesn't back up the headline. They are working on 8k. They are working on 4k 60fps. Nowhere does it say it could be in the GH5... or GH6... or GH7...

Besides, I shot a recording in 720p/24 per client request on Friday (event recording on HMC150... so granted, not quite apples to apples). I have yet once to be asked about recording in 4k. I question the logic of releasing a sub $2k camera that records in 8k any time in the next decade, as there simply isn't that much demand for 4k yet.

M43 rumours are coming up with rather silly stories lately, and often without any real basis, they are just click bait.

For the GH5 to have 8K it's going to need a 32MP+ sensor, that's double the current 16MP. Is it possible? Sure, but it is likely? I don't think so.

As for 4K @ higher frame rates, yeah, I can see that happening.

Let's not get carried away with all the crazy stuff people say on the web, otherwise everyone just get's disappointed with what is finally released, yet without the silly hype everyone would have been happy.

I predict they will make this gadget that fits in the palm of your hand...it will have this screen on it that you can just touch it...and control it. No buttons. Okay...maybe like 1 button. It can also do a lot of things....like take pictures, play games, check your mail and record sound...maybe even make a telephone call. It will have a lot of resolution...like one thousand and eighty tiny dots across. It might even do slow motion. Since the screen will be something that you mostly has graphics and no buttons, it will looks really good to the eye. Probably call it something stupid like and eyetelephone...or something.

I would love 1080p60 or 2160p60 but why would panasonic do it. There are only a couple TVs accepting a true 1080p60 signal much less 2160p60. What people call 1080p60 nowadays is really 30p doubled after de-interlacing. That's not a true progressive 60 frames per second. Monitors can do it. There are also few consumers with 4k tv's, none with 8k as far as I know.

Most TVs and smartphones will be 4K in a few years.

I'm much rather see 200 Mb/s I-frame 4k recoded in camera at 10 bit 4:2:2 using H.265 (HEVC) than anything else.
THIS. Also, I would like better low light performance at 4K. Something even remotely approaching the A7s in terms of low light in 4K would be incredible.

For the foreseeable future, 4K really is good enough.
