I've been shooting commercials and doing interviews with GH4 for years. I've never really had a problem with the skin tone. Perhaps it's your settings or the lighting?
Since this is a very subjective thing, can you please either post or PM me an example you have shot that you consider to be great in terms of skin tones? It's useful to have a frame of reference when people discuss this stuff. For example, my reference is the unicyclist in the video above. It's a familiar look that is ok, but not great...for me. YMMV of course.
Regarding settings, I've tried them all! I also use (and don't use) the leeming LUTs, have shot vlog with and without 10 bit recorder, shot in natural light, tungsten sources, all of my LED's are very high TLCI/CRI, etc. It's all good, and I know how to get the best out of it, or close to it at this point. However, the moment I shot on the Canons (and I hate to say this!), I felt like I was getting something that I had been missing, especially when it comes to skin.
Having said all that, that's not what this thread is about and like I said, those that don't love the GHx color science have been saying this forever and those that like it have been defending it forever, so it's not really worth debating here. I'm just thinking out loud because I pre-ordered the GH5 and would love to have all of the features but am realizing that the color does gnaw at me in a way that is hard to shake, regardless of setting and grade.
Thanks
