GH4 GH4 V LOG Narrative (based on true story of September 11th)

This is my first attempt to make a short film based off of a true story. The entire film was shot on a Panasonic GH4 in 4K and V Log. 90% of this film was lit with a 1K china ball. I would like to submit this to some festivals or other appropriate outlets in New York City. If anybody here has and suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all very much.

For sound we used a Rode NTG 3 and a Zoom h4n. You can follow the Vimeo link to see the full technical notes.
 
Nicely done and good acting. Just be careful where you post the film as some film festivals get picky about "previous screenings". And be ready to pay for submissions.
 
Liked the concept and the acting wasn't bad.

Didn't like the editing and directing so much. IMHO it's stiff.
The picture was very noisy and seemed to have lots of macroblocking on some areas. Maybe you could clean up the picture a bit and add some grain so you wont get to much banding and other nasties... The picture also looks really soft and blocky. I think you could do a better final compression.

Otherwise good job on a finished product! As a whole it functions.

Thanks for watching Kinoks! I've always been a big fan of constructive criticism and thank you very much for your feedback! With that being said, I don't always agree with the feedback. In my opinion the editing fits the somber mood and weight of the subject matter. As far as the image, that's about as clean as I can get out of the GH4. We made it a point to have plenty of light on set so that we could create clean shadows in post. I can't say that I see much of any macro blocking here. It also looks sharp to me. As for grain, I added lots of grain in post. I have the Film Convert grain turned up to 100%. I love the way it came out! Again thanks for watching and it's always interesting to hear the perspective of other filmmakers. Thank you!

Great Job! It does have a LOT of grain, which combined with the crispness of the GH4 is an interesting combination. Not filmlike to my eyes, but a good look nonetheless. To my ears, the audio (which is captured well) could be Eq'd to be a bit more immersive in the space that the actor is inhabiting. It has the thickness and chestiness of a close-mic'd voiceover, but we are seeing him sometimes from a bit of a distance in a gymnasium. It's subtle, but something to think about.
 
Well done. I'm digging the sound -- it's great. Sound/FX/Ambience/Processing it's all very well done.
It's certainly on the noisy side video wise... did you underexpose?
