GH4 GH4 V LOG Narrative (based on true story of September 11th)

Great acting for amateur work, very good regardless of experience. Shots were good. I liked the fly through to him during the airplane part. Maybe a tiny bit more variation in shots would be a nice touch, but it was great as is, and there is only so much time you can spend shooting something. Trust me, I know! And I'm sure you, like me, go through and say, "If I only had more time/money/certain euquipment I would have done this differently." Excellent work overall.

Only actual critique would be that I would agree that for some reason it looks noisier to me than it should. Maybe you brought up the shadows some? Not sure. I doubt it would distract any normal viewer, but we're not normal viewers.

Anyway, again, great work!

Ozmorphasis, great feedback. Thank you for watching! Could you elaborate on EQ'ing the audio. Does it sound like there is a lack of atmosphere to the sound? I added a good bit of room tone to try and help with that.

Thanks for watching spaulgal! I did not underexpose accept for over by the wall when he's at the table and then the one shot of him exiting the gym. Everything else is well lit by a 1K China Ball. Thank you again for watching and for your feedback!

Thank you blazer003! VLOG on the GH4 is known for being noisy. Especially when you record internally. I am planning on getting an external recording in 2016. Maybe a Ninja Assassin - we'll see. This was carefully lit and exposed. It's actually one of the cleaner looking GH4 V LOG pieces I've seen. Mind you I added lots of grain in post. Matter of fact, I had my grain turned all the way up to 100 on my Film Convert filter. I don't normally go that high with the grain, but it felt right with the already noisy V LOG.

I would like to submit this to some festivals or other appropriate outlets in New York City. If anybody here has and suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all very much

My suggestion would be to pull it from the internet if you intend to enter it into festivals.

All the best!

Dave

Just watched. Great stuff all around! Does the lead have much acting experience? It's rare to see actual good acting in a forum posted short. Especially for such a sensitive scene. Kudos to him!

Thanks for watching DBP. I'm glad you liked it! He does have a lot of experience. He's been in lots of feature films and even a few Hollywood films as an extra. His name is Josue Gutierrez if you'd like to look him up on IMDB or Youtube. This was my first time working with him on an official short film and it was definitely very cool to work with a serious actor that wants to push every aspect of the film. Thanks again for watching our humble little piece:)
