The interview do not mention that. Have you got other sources ?we hear that the GH3 actually does have a sony sensor (confirmed indirectly by Inoue),

Time will tell, can't wait to start seeing some new footage
Just curious to know, Would there be any visual diff between 4:2:0 and 4:1:1? I know were used to seeing cams with 4:2:2. But i'm not sure why we dont see cams outputting 4:1:1. Barry?
The GH3 firmware is at version 0.4, which means we still have a long way to go before we can truly judge what this camera can do.
What is past experience with how different a camera performs from it's first physical showing a trade show to the first units in people's hands?
Yes. Clearly, it has to be Foveon.I'm pretty sure that only leaves ONE feasible option.
Agreed wholeheartedly. 4:1:1 existed pretty much solely in NTSC DV land (and DVCPRO in PAL). 4:2:0 in interlaced is hideous, and 4:1:1 made a lot more sense in an interlaced video stream. With the transition to progressive, 4:2:0 has displaced 4:1:1.If you think that 4:1:1 is nasty, you could conclude that the interlaced version of 4:2:0 was an abomination crafted by Lord Cthulu himself solely for the purpose of driving color compositing artists mad. With progressive footage, 4:2:0 is much more sane.
I've done several previews and worked with several early prototypes, and many times they have told me not to review the imaging as the imaging wasn't done yet. They are showing the form factor, the way things work, previewing the features that will be in there, stuff like that, but they may not have finalized all the various aspects of the imaging software yet. What is past experience with how different a camera performs from it's first physical showing a trade show to the first units in people's hands?

The HVX200 definitely had substantial revisions to it between the first showing (June-July-ish, IIRC) to the time I got it to shoot the first "real" footage on it (late November/early December). The HMC150, when I was previewing it, had definite image considerations that they said "don't show footage". In fact, IIRC, the very first time the HVX was shown, it was enabled to shoot 60i only; couldn't even do 24p yet.Well, right, I get that certain elements weren't implemented yet, but this is stuff that's planned. What I'm asking explicitly is: where has there been a camera that, after having footage or actual physical bodies shown to the public, has had any kind of significant change in sensor quality or features added to it before the first bodies shipped to consumers arrived? Is there any basis at all to say, "Hey, this might change before you actually get the camera in your hands." or has history actually been "this is 99.999% of what you're going to get when your first orders come in."
Hopefully answered above. I would think that they have the imaging basically done at this point, or they shouldn't have been turning it loose to shoot that Bruce Logan film. That I can understand, but with a camera supposedly out around end of November/December, I wouldn't call this an early prototype. And even in that circumstance, was there any major difference to the image that you saw on those prototypes vs what you saw in the end product?

Blackmagic
The reason for this is that he was working with an even earlier version of the GH3 firmware, where the monitor out wasn't working
