GH2 GH2-X v3 "THIRTY" (Quantum 7 + P-frame 720p Patch for 30MB/s)

SAGE,

I noticed on your GH2-X v3 combo patch, that the following settings are omitted from the Quantum 7 Patch:
AVCHD Encoded / Bitrate settings
- 1080p24 Low Top Setting
- 1080p24 Low Bottom Setting
- Other Modes Top Setting
- Other Modes Bottom Setting

Was this intentional?

P.S. Awesome Work!!

Wondering the same thing

I see Q7 is

1080p24 Low Top Setting=96000
1080p24 Low Bottom Setting=67198
Other Modes Top Setting=79695
Other Modes Bottom Setting=55785

Yes, 80% is maxed out as a continuous setting at 24L on 30Mb/s (585 bytes per frame). Driftwood is limiting 24L to try to get it to span on 30MB/s reliably, but we are not there yet. The 'other modes' settings no longer apply w/ 'Thirty' 720p.

Aha, makes sense.

Again, amazing what you have accomplished with V.K. And Driftwood!
My favorite patch thus far as it meets my needs for HQ 24p AND 60p Slomo.

Kudos!!

Just ordered a SanDisk Extreme Pro 64GB SDXC. Does this patch (I assume its sete.zip not setd.zip) play back in camera? If not, can someone point me to the patch I could use and play back in camera with SanDisk Extreme Pro 64GB SDXC card?

I confirmed that the 24L of this patch will both span and playback after spanning on any size 95MB/s (tested on moving deathchart).
The only thing that won't playback after spanning on the 64gb 95 is 24H.

just tested all three settings.

shutter 60
iso 400
stopped down to 4.0

24p good for 2mins on death chart.
1080i stopped at 1:46 on death chart.
720p good for 2mins on death chart.

all 3 played back in cam. even the 1080i.

oddly, your version of driftwood's v7 didn't freeze up, whereas his did.
i still like his v3 better, but his 1080i/720p freeze up on the death chart.

I have a "library" of standard Class 10, 20mb/s. Anyone have a recommendation for a moderate slowmotion patch? I realize its a little off topic, but I figure most people in here are familiar with the other slowmotion patches. Spanning would be a bonus, but frankly if I can get up too 5min SOLID per clip, im happy.
I'm still waiting, pool side, to invest in a few 64 95s... just cant justify them over good glass at the moment.

Thanks in advance... P.S. Link those Vid samples, I gotta have a look! :D

Great! Thank you for confirming this. I cannot wait to try this patch with 64gb 95mbps card!

I'm still using Quantam V2 with Sandisk Extreme Class 10 cards.

What are the advantages of shooting with this new hack? Is it better for 24p in either H or L modes or is it just for the 60p settings?

Yes it suppose to have better 24h quantization, whatever that means.
I'm in the same boat as you. Very confusing.
Still waiting for a final best of all patches to use permanently.

I'm not seeing much of any banding between 400 and 800 iso. Plus, noise is my friend with this codec.

I hope so..
Anyway, the V7 has this AQ4 which suppose to improve
Image even a step further.
Although no one posted any raw footage to tell the
Differences yet.

I have AQ4 set on quantam V2.. It seems Quantam V7 actually lowered the bitrate from 156 to around 100.. Wonder why that was done.

well, could you go up to personal-view and come up with a simple answer? ;)
because I KNOW that V7 is definitely better (from what they say and test), but i cannot SEE or UNDERSTAND it really.
i don't have the 64G card to experiment so i can only watch some side by side improvement results, but no one's actually uploaded some...

Finally received the GH2, waiting on 64gb Cards, but gonna patch this tonight. Looking forward to trying it out and if I get a chance here soon enough (after cards arrive) I'll post some slow mo.
